I managed to snaffle a New Aditek lid from @Ayrtek as part of the Christmas voucher deal, an absolute steal if I don't say so.
Anyhow I've worn it for two net sessions and am growing pretty fond of it. The vision it offers is superb, at least equal to my old titanium Masuri. It's really light, I barely feel it on my head. The protection is great too. I nailed an attempted dilscoop straight into the gap between the visor and the grill and didn't feel a thing! Granted the bowling can't be described as anything more than medium pace but inspecting the impact point when I got out of the net I can't help but feel it could have snuck through the Masuri.
Overall, I'm a convert now I think!

hahahahaha nailed yourself with an attempted scoop, good on ya
that's the reason I bought one as well, so could practice scoops and sweeps, unfortunately the lids a little too tight for my massive head

Yeah it was pretty funny. I tried it the ball before and got it away. Next ball was a bit fuller and straighter and I nailed it, straight into my face!

@TangoWhiskey Glad your happy with it and it kept you intact!

I'll jump on this thread and confirm that I wore my (very reasonably priced) PremierTek last week at nets and it was superb, much lighter than my old dodgy Puma helmet and good vision. Some of the guys in the club also commented (generally positive ;)) so it was nice that I got noticed.
The main reason I got this helmet was because I absolutely have to place my grille as far back and as low as possible, and I know the impending new helmet from Ayrtek (and others) will be a fixed grille, which is just so annoying, so once again I am delighted to have got one of these run-out specials.
As an aside, I notice that the back of the grille has enough holes for a placement even further back than the hole at the front of the grille allows. I might consider extending the length of the front hole to allow this, assuming it is possible and not a major exercise on a Titanium grille??
-
@Stratts Historically those grille holes were present so that the grills could be fitted to other branded helmets when we 1st started out back in 2009. Not all holes are usable on our helmet with them as you have noted.
Thanks for the positive feedback though, we still have some helmets left at clearance price if people are still looking for one in time for winter nets.
-
Tom, are your titanium grills compatible with a Masuri shell? Cheers!
-
@dannyhall04 hi Danny, I believe a few forum members use our Tu grille with a Masuri shell yes.
@Buzz am I right in thinking this is the combo u use/were using?
-
Sorry only just seen this.
I have used a masuri lid with the ayrtek grill successfully.
Currently using a gm lid with masuri ti grille.
I expect the ayrtek grille will also fit the GM lid, but haven't tested yet.
-
Thanks mate 👍
Managed to dig out an old Masuri lid today that we out through testing so I'll try one of our Ti grilles on it and see how it fits.
Results shortly....

This is our Titanium grille on a older style Masuri lid, (obv new Masuri are fixed grille anyway)
Using these settings gives a 40mm gap which is prob the best option to reduce ball/peak penetration risk given the peak flex on these models.

How much would one of those old grills be in titanium as I've got an old style Masuri?
-
The grill really suits that Masuri!

I have an old style Masuri lid.
How is the visibility of these grills? I never liked the Masuri visibility .
-
I'm gonna measure the gap on my current steel grill as this could be a viable option at getting a titanium grill
-
Sorry to hijack the thread but can't get on with my Ayrtek; all I can see is the grille with it on! If that makes sense. Does it get easier after a few wears? I've worn my Masuri Ti for a good 5 years now so maybe I'm just very used to that?
My period for returning is running out and in 2 minds what to do...
-
Can vouch for the Ayrtek! Bough in the January offer (Very good offer) and as a previous non helmet wearer I was really nervous about starting to wear one, but vision through it is great and very light, fits my giant conk really well too.

It does take time. Had my second net with the new lid yesterday and am getting there now. Like with most things it takes some getting used to but I'm sure with time will be fine.
-
I took the plunge and sent it back :( bought a Masuri from @Ryan instead!
-
I also got the Premiertek off Tom for a very good price but as its my first helmet I can't offer a comparison other than to say at my first net session last week I was very happy with it. Vision was my main concern but soon got used to it. Chin strap may need a bit more thought / mod especially when you get sweaty as it tended to slip up off my chin other than that, fine.

I am with you on the head size. I tried the helmet without any of the straps and it was still a tight fit. @Ayrtek => Any plans to offer an extra large size helmet :D ??
-
The adult liner without any padding has an inner circumference of just over 64cm, customers with a bigger head than this typically end up with the air liner option as its can be adjusted beyond this size.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is air liner option ? Is that a different helmet model or is it an option which i should specify when buying ?
-
@sanredrose yes sorry it's an alternative liner option we produced in a different model helmet previously. It's uses air to offer a bespoke fit to the user and was what we used across all our helmets back in 2012 before pairing up with adidas at which point it was only used in the very top end model.
-
Thanks @Ayrtek. So if my understanding is correct then air liner fit is offered in AyrZero & RawTek models ?
-
No it was just in the RawTek model, we had to create the AdiZero as some Pros couldn't grasp the concept of having to inflate the liner to get it to fit rather than just putting something straight on their head. 😳
