@dcullen8 It def not a an argument , not happy with what i see since Stripe 3 is supposed to be a good clean bat for the price . yes its 50% off but that doesnt mean B3 is not getting their money its shelled out from someone else pocket. I guess it is what it is for now .
-
That's a chevron & not a spiral grip mate. Finishing looks good on that bat.

@gaurav23 my bad ... yet to take my morning coffee :P
-
That doesn't seem to be a pin knot. I believe its called a 'hard bar'. Try bouncing a ball on it - if I am correct, it should actually respond *better* off that mark...then again, its a fair distance away from the sweet spot, so may not matter in the end.
-
This is more a playing area debate, do you use the area just under the stickers to play the ball? Can't say I'd use that area anymore than the edges!
-
Hopin it opens up & plays better for your sakes mate !! Knock it in well & Give em' hell !!! Oops [emoji12]

Didnt personally mean you, just dont think the forum needs this whole debate again after the trouble i caused last night

Can i hit every ball right at the sweet-spot certainly not i guess ... reason going after TKC profile is to have longer middle so it has more sweet-spot .. anyways like i said these are something i dont like but that doesn't mean i dont like the bat . if it plays well thats enough for me .

@dcullen8 Certainly not mate , i just said what i feel .. not creating any debate or any type of conflict here . Just wrote my personal view on what i feel about the bat nothing more than that.

Might as well use the Mongoose then,eh ?! C'mon pal, that very much comes under the 'playing area' !!
Irrespective of it all - if the buyer is happy then the rest are better off just enjoying the pics [emoji16]

I would be disappointed to see it on a bat especially if its top of the line, 50% or not doesnt matter.
-
Looks great and Certainly looks a grade 1 bat to me, and I would rather have that mark than an inch of heartwood. The mark looks to be a lot higher than where the middle looks to be. Also don't b3 grade not only on looks but response as well? If so get the edges and toe knocked in and have a bash with it. I'm sure the bat won't disappoint.
-
sorry dude but that is not great "looking" for a grade 1 (im unfamiliar with B3 grading but think 3 stripe top stuff) so yes fair to be dissapointed. Suppose saving grace will be 50 percent off but i guess thats not the point. shape a little odd looking but as long as you like it thats all that matters. If not im sure a return or change will be easy as does not even meet basic requirement of "clean playing area"
-
@batcrazy yes i agree with you, if its lower grade i would not be disappointed. But being top of the line (almost) and seeing a bat like this not good . like you i m not sure of grading system looks like each bat maker have their own grading system.
-
Looks great was meant as in looks a great bat, not as in great looking grade 1, but to me would pass as a grade 1.
-
anyways dont want this looks dragging conversation anymore .. enjoy the pics

G1 for me as you're outwith the conventional hitting area. I think one thing that has to also be taken into consideration is cleft size, the larger the cleft, the lower the number of clefts you'll get from a tree. Therefore the willow vendors may grade more generously and charge a premium on top for the larger cleft. Regardless, matches what B3 call G1, and I personally quite like the looks! Hopefully it performs like a train for you!
-
I actually don't mind this one. Still looks lovely, with nice grains. Id be ok receiving this for my 3 stripe. :)
People saying that the blemish is not in the hitting area are having a laugh though. What do you think the hitting area is?

The mark doesn't extend to the back so it's only 50% in the hitting area... ;)
-
True Lol. 50percent off. 50 percent blemish free Lmao. Well the chap did request clean playing area so that reasonable request for a 3 stripe. I'm sure they'll just make u another mate

Huh? :o
-
Sorry not funny. U spent ur cash on it. Sorry
-
People will always have differing opinions. I've seen G1 bats look like that before it's just that some G1 look better than others. I would say that is outside of the hitting area but we are all entitled to the opinion. I also think i've heard 'graping' previously on here and that seems to fit the description from memory for the markings under the stickers. It was a good 12 months or so ago though.
Grip and toe guard would indeed be a bit of a pain after requesting but hope it serves you well buddy

@ursmasti try bouncing the ball on that mark.. i suspect it will feel a bit "crisp" and will fly off that mark. i love marks like that (Paul Nixon agrees) - IF the bat is pressed well, and if that mark is right on the surface (instead of buried deep in the blade), the ball should fly.

It's not in the hitting area though, so this comment is void... ;)
-
Surely the hitting area is anything under the stickers? I'd take that from my B3 but it's not my B3 so no-one else's opinion really matters, does it!?

All grades have a broad spectrum of looks. It's how it plays that's important. My b3 pings off the blemishes, so as long as everybody gets a bat that performs is there really an issue?. This is a great offer and if you have any specific issues take it up b3 directly and let's get back to looking at great bats.

yes some love blemishes, fair play. My G2 indoor bat pings of the blemishes too but that was like 30 quid so come see me next time you after a blemish bat boss, maybe get a refurb from B3 and it will have the nice stickers then lol. Job done. Just kidding, thats not the point tbh, the point was, it's top grade, "customer" requested something did not happen. I agree with you and did say tho that no sweat surely it can just be replaced. Great offer or not requesting something and not getting it would be a boo purchase.

I don't agree with the statement that as long as one gets a bat that performs well one you stay happy. Then in that case everyone would have just paid for grade 3. Why pay extra bucks for higher grade?
It's a great offer , but again one should be able give their opinion.
Do you mean to say that we should only talk about how good our bats look and play well, and there should be no -ve feedback provided?
I do see a trend that a small -ve remark, and people start jumping.
We should have these discussions as there is always room for improvement. I love my new b3 mull, but may be they can improve on their 3 stripe grading or correct any gaps. That's for b3 guys to look into.
If any bat maker/brand says they are perfect then how will they grow?
I have seen people returning laver and wood bats several time. That doesn't not make James Laver a bad bat maker but may be some other part of bat making needs to be fixed.
I don't think we just need good bat pics on this forum.
There are some people who go to the other end of criticism, that needs to be corrected.

I don't think we need multiple threads on the same topic. People have given feedback and b3 have given some thoughts already. Im sure they will be happy to keep talking but let's move on.

@i12breakfree I totally agree with you .
-
I love the B3 I received and am very thankful for the offer. I also understand that sometimes blemishes show up as the bat is being shaped but if this was sent to me as a 3 stripe I would be not happy and this is one of better looking 3 stripe out of the recent questionably graded ones.

send it back then and sort it with B3 who I'm sure will be very helpful
End of. Let's move on

Agree totally. B3 will sort it , no quibbles as long as it's not used.
Looks a bloody good bat to me. That marbling would be stickered over on many other brands without a oversized cleft and is not in the playing area. No pin knots on the face so it is grade 1.
