Yeh interesting to follow as Julien is coaching him, that lid has had some owners in its time...Kieron Pollard had it 1st i think and its been passed on ever since.
Must have a decent eye if you can smoke home runs with a baseball bat at 90+ mph from a pitcher a cricket ball with a wider bat would in reality be easier you'd think. However its the bouncing ball issue that people have said is the hard part to master when making the switch.
-
The video above he's using a middling bat.... Crazy
-
His eye is good and there is no doubting that he's smoking some of them balls hard.
But
bowling machine can be fodder, even a man of my rather small talent can slap a bowling machine on high speeds and smoke it around.
I want to see a video of him in the middle. Doesn't have to be a game, just a few bowlers running in and see how he copes with the small changes from a bowler, line length adjustments, swing, Seam, slower ball and off course the variation when the bowler doesn't put it where he wants.
See how many he smokes and clears the boundary then.

impressive, especially the reverse hit, he made it look so easy

But Can it do it on a cold and windy day in Stoke ???
-
he's just swinging as hard as possible, where's the skill involved?
yeh he has a good eye which I reckon comes as standard with baseball players
-
I am not sure we can criticise him until he plays a game. What a great thing to try.
I faced a pitching machine in the states once and couldn't lay bat on ball..!!
-
Definitely interesting to see how this works out. I saw the story on the BBC in conjunction with Kieron Powell, a WI opener who is looking to switch to baseball. Who'll do better?
-
Get in a game! It could be spectacular. He could be the ultimate boom or bust opener
-
He'd be used to swinging balls and changes of pace from baseball. Def interested to see how he gets on. Game awareness will probably be one of the things he struggles with. Fielding techniques are vastly different to

If you follow Julien on Twitter he posts regular update vids on him and how he's getting on 👍.
He's out in India currently I believe with Boomer.

What's his twitter?
-
Agree re bounce and where the ball comes at him from, but you could agrgue he has that good an eye would it matter?
Full and straight I reckon. Or bowl directly at him, baseballers always spit the dummy when that happens, fair game in cricket!
-
Field settings.
Boys pack the leg side. He is going big...
