Title: Signature - Something Special
Post by: ursmasti on January 24, 2016, 07:26:54 PM
Got this while back but never did a review of it , after using it for a while i thought its time to write while doing winter refurb.Once i clean it up apply new stickers and face i will post updated pictures again. This Signature is something special in terms of profile , shape and the edge sizes for its weight . some of you might have already seen it on LW Facebook long back. Absolute beauty and beast for its weight .People have talked enough over the service and how good LW bats are me being LW fan i wont talk much about these .Here are the specs

Weight - 2.9
Edges : 42mm
Toe - 31mm
Shoulder - 20mm
Grains - 18-19
Profile - Custom
Concaving - None
Super Short Handle , STD blade

Now the pictures ...

Sweet Jesus, been a while since we've seen something like this on here. Nice to hear you've been using it. I dread to think of the signatures that have been wasted sitting unused because people are so precious about them. Willow that good deserves to smack leather on a regular basis.

That is an outstanding stick, it is absolutely massive for the weight. And that grainage is unreal! Are there benefits of a super short handle?

@Sivlar13  I don't know about others but for me i prefer super short handle since i tend to hit the top of the handle to my wrist and also i have noticed i get more power behind the shot using SSH. Over the years i have used it and works for me.

@Centurian Yup its massive bat for the weight , it was a surprise to me that this bat has 30+ mm toe and it still feels like 2.8 very well balanced.

That's a fair point mate, sounds like I may have to chop a bit of handle off an old bat to test it haha

Aye that's true enough. Damp would be a severe understatement regarding  the weather we have had over the past couple of months!

Another stunning bat in your collection. You must be top of Lavers Christmas card list 😊

Do you have the collection insured as must be worth quite a lot.

@ursmasti , you play in the US, right? How have the Signatures held up vs the balls used here in the leagues / nets? Pretty durable?

@brokenbat - A friend of mine uses LW special reserve bat. He discussed with Anthony from LW team and he suggested a slightly harder pressed bat might work well when u r using a mix of cheap and good quality balls. He has been using it for almost two years now and it still going strong.

SoCal T20 leagues generally buys balls from Pakistan - AS & CA. These are generally a hit or miss in terms of quality. 40 over games they get the balls from Hammer cricket and they are very good. Irony is that Hammer balls are made in Pakistan by the same vendors ...

Good to know @ursmasti . One of the main concerns I have with so many grains, is that the bat can start delaminating very quickly. But it looks like these guys prepare their bats to prevent that from happening. Would hate to see a Signature only last a season!

Not really , havent seen a bat being broken that quicklyin last few years. Yes their bats take little while to play in before they reach to peak.

Yup, I feel it's lost its exclusivity since your one was made, when they only had 2-3 clefts in at any given time that was a signature... Dunno if all the clefts in that first picture were destined to be Signatures, but I think they were. :-[

@Jenko => Your signature bat dwarfs pretty much any bat i have seen till now ! In the looks department this would stand at the top ....
