Title: Root's helmet
Post by: brokenbat on January 25, 2016, 12:09:56 AM
Seems to be switching back and forth...first he had the new Masuri VS, then Shrey, and looks like back to Masuri. He's either gotten Masuri and Shrey in a bidding war over him, or fiddles around with his kit as much as one of us forumites.

Talk is he took a few quid from shrey in the uae as he knew it wouldn't bounce above knee height

Back to a proper helmet for morkel and steyn on quick seamers

I thought masuri didn't pay anyone for the use of their helmets?

That was never said. He wear masuri because he prefers it for quick bowling, but got paid by shrey to use their helmet in uae because of the bounce

Thats what jake said

My question is, how do you adjust to the weight so quickly?

Once you're wearing the lid you don't notice the weight.
Well, I don't in the short amount of time wearing it anyway...  :-[

I was thinking of buying the vision series; does the double grille take getting used to?

Our soon to be launched steel grille model is I believe lighter than the Titanium models offered by other brands.

Would Be useful if people with a Shrey or Masuri Titanium could let me know what they weight?

A suggestion maybe, Root knew the tracks weren't going to bounce much in the UAE as well as the weight difference so in the hotter climate with less chance of getting hit he wanted a helmet that wouldn't weigh him down as much because if the weight was going to be noticeable anywhere it would be somewhere like the UAE?

@Ayrtek I believe the shrey weighs around 780 and the masuri 920 grams. From memory that is

@tom line thanks mate, it's on my to do list to get some figures so we can see where we land in the line up 👍

Just found a bit on info on Shreys website but would be useful to know if these are accurate in line with what customers have.

Root took the shilling on offer from Masuri not the other way round he chose the Shrey in the uk but was never paid.
cant blame players who take the money. I have both helmets before anybody asks and i love them both.

We don't know the full details but i doubt Root is using Masuri for free

@Ayrtek it's probably fair to assume that the weights in the website will be the minimal weights so taken from the smallest helmet size with the least padding present etc

This may well be the case which was why I asked the question.....marketing is a wonderful thing so it would be good to see if the quoted weights are a true reflection of what customers have in their kit bags 👍

@Centurion if you get it on properly you can only see one bar, if there's 2 in your line if vision that's how you know it's on wrong.

@Ayrtek my Vision Series elite titanium, with the standard thickness padding & swopa band, without a stem guard attached, is 919g

Can we replace an old steel guard with the new?

On our models? Yes that's he plan although as previously stated it wouldn't make them officially 2013 compliant but would provide a smaller gap and fixed grille position then.
