Now then, this will be a multiple part post, with no pictures of the actual bat in this opening one!
As you will all know B3 ran a very good offer for a half price bat recently.
Having been lucky enough to use SimonMay's Screaming Cat not that long ago I fell in love!
As the Podfather is no longer making bats, I gave up on the chance of ever owning one. But B3 can work wonders with their bat mapping, so I contacted Streaky.
I sent the pictures quoted below to him and he worked his magic, and armed with my voucher code an order for a 1 stripe was placed.
In short, I paid a fraction over £100 for a copy of this!

So after a few emails the bat was mapped, this design provided and payment made.

I requested the bat to weigh 2lb9 when finished and left the B3 boys to work their magic.
After the shape was finalised the hardest choice was what combination of grip and stickers to go for!
-
Screaming cat looks a beauty. Just over £100 for a replica UK made is a bargain. I look forward to seeing how it came out.
-
And now for the main event!
The bat arrived today, I've done all the waffling in the previous posts, I'll let the pictures do the talking

That dog doesn't look too impressed though...
-
Lovely bat and the best thing is that as its a one stripe we don't have endless discussions on whether its a grade1 or not :D
-
Proper bat not some of the lumps of meat on here these days ! :P
-

Lovely bat that is!

Yeah.... Can't believe it looks as good as my 2 stripe... Not happy Jan!!!! ;) ;) ;)
Just incase someone thinks I'm serious... I'M NOT!!!!!! :D

Time for the write up! :D
The bat is about 2/3 heartwood on the right handers inside edge, with 6 grains and a virtually blemish free face.
The back has a few blemishes and imperfections, but to me they add character and being on the back don't make any difference to the bat in my opinion.
The bat has been finished well with a lovely shine to it from the polishing. It feels silky smooth and there are a couple of tell tale signs it has been hand sanded, I am highly impressed.
The black and white sticker combination and the white chevron give a classic colour scheme, while the carbon fibre effect, embossing and detailing on the greyed out 3 on the B3 logo give them a modern feel. I also like that the Bespoke sticker has been embossed and the black background of the stickers
There is a minimal amount of concaving towards the sweet spot of the bat, with none up high. This is to both help with the bat's balance and to keep the weight down to the magic figure of 2lb9 finished. The handle is a lovely thick oval which makes it pick up very well and just feels right in your hands. I usually use an extra half grip on the bottom half of the handle, but that won't be necessary with this bat!
As for the ping, the toe is expectedly dead, as on all bats, with it starting to respond better about 50mm up the blade.
It then responds well to just below the Bespoke sticker, with the best response coming roughly level with the small pin knot in the face (about 920mm from the toe)
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20160127_202931_zpsnvom1xa7.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20160127_202931_zpsnvom1xa7.jpg.html)

And the vital stats for those who are interested.
Weight in it's current state: 2lb9 exactly
Edge at largest point: 27mm
Edge at shoulder: 12mm
Edge at toe: 18mm
Peak spine height: 59mm
And lastly for now, here is a (rather badly done) ping test, recorded on my phone.

A little off topic but that BB-8 sticker is truly something amazing, I'd have bought the remote control toy but it's 130 pounds sadly............although I can't say that is an excuse for the simple reason of owning 4 bats and soon to become 5!
-
Looks like b3 have done a great job copying it and for a one stripe it looks very good indeed and really like the stickers you have gone for really set the bat off hope you score lots of runs with it mate
-
The ping looks quite impressive and it has a very nice sound
-
Looks good mate! Does anyone know if this shape (or Chad's map? Couldn't find the topic.) are now available as a custom profile or do other customers have to get it bespoked themselves? Haven't ordered mine yet, this is tempting!
-
Amazing. Enjoy
-
@WalkingWicket37 Might of missed it in your commentary but is that an exact copy of Simon's bat or did you need to downscale the edges/spine to meet the weight?
-
@uknsaunders I think it was mapped then had the edges reduced a small amount to get the finished weight to 2lb9.
Now this is on the B3 computer, you could modify the shape so it's a bit bigger and have it made in a low density cleft ;)

The bats become custom as soon as one is mapped but it will be in the weight advertised as a 400 cleft will give if you get me.
There will be no modifications to the shapes though

Would be interesting to know the weight of an exact copy at 400 density. Curious as you wouldn't look at it and say its a massive shape and Simon's wasn't a heavy bat. Looks can be deceiving though!
Looks a great bat!

I do not think either Chad or this was where massive volumed bats but bats have changed so much in the last 18-24 months.
-
I think it looks a cracking bat. I nearly ordered one myself after seeing your initial post. However settled on one stripe, shape 15. Looking at your bat I hope I haven't made the wrong decision. :(
-
I could be on for getting a third B3 after seeing this! Its laaaaavley :-[
-
What weight is the screaming cat? As the spine looks huge on that.

That is pretty light for the size, I was expecting closer to 2lb 12oz. Definitely a collectors item.

Cam!!! That is some major-league carpet! It reminds me of my chest hair just after Mrs Fattus has blow-dried me.

This is forum cam! No one reads the bits in between the pictures they just head straight for the reply button.

Just sayin', but this would effectively be your arm while batting. ;)

Wondered who was going to mention the 920mm first.

Lovely shape. Would it be possible to post a picture of edge and spine profile just like that of the Screaming Cat for comparison?

@simonmay5 is this something you'd be kind enough to do for the forum?
And out of curisosity, is there any chance of some side by side pictures of the original and the copy together? :)

Looking forward to the images, hope the owner(s) of the bats would not disappoint.

Would love to see the photos of these bats together and a profile comparison with the original, if that happens.
