Saw this on instagram. They are BEASTS to say the least.

Must say I'm a bit underwhelmed.
-
Holy cow! What weights must those be? :o
-
Wow looks like some new bat ranges are gonna be unveiled
-
BIG BATS
-
Similar to Warners in profile arent they?
-
Does anyone not have the Warner profile nowadays?
-
Serious! Massive

wee bit of cracking on the face there.

Probably a restickering of the one he has been using for the big bash.
-
are they full length bats?
-

Previously he used 2lb8oz to 2lb9oz not sure if he has changed
-
Looks like two different profile bats - t20 and tests? Wonder how the bitmapping would look @The Doctor
-
Didn't he use Warner's bat in the first Big Bash game when he scored his first ton of his recent run? After that he got the bats made to the same spec as that bat I thought.
-
Holy mother of cricket gods!
-
No wonder hes been hitting the gym to handle those monsters!

He says in one of his previous posts he uses different bats and weights for different formats

If the are Warner profile, then they have a Big Bow which B3 can't map.

I'm sure someone on one of the B3 Bargain threads said they are in the process of getting a Warner replica made?

And they probably got a bat without a bow.

Quite possibly! I don't think whoever the member was has received the bat/posted pics yet.

Out of choice mate we do subtle bow and have the capability onbinoed but as big bows in terms of Asian bows tend to be a uneven press we tend not too but thanks for your comments
I suspect they don't have massive bows either more handle set and profile shaping see that bat on it side next to the other you can see it not a massive bow it extentiated by the curving of the back edge and spine
Infact maybe time for a blog on bows over to you @The Doctor
Look belting bats made by one of the best if not the best handmaker and designer in the world

Gray-Nicolls Dave Warner bats have a big bow. I have one. It is a big bow. I got it from Bob Muelmann in Australia. God bless the man, he hand picked the one I specified out of the lot of 20.
I got a Gary Nicolls because my B3, despite a "big bow" spec, showed at my door step with a no-bow.

This Gary Nicolls fellow seems like a nice guy.

These stickers look like as if they were from eBay...
Amazing profile though. We need these bats! 😉
-
Yep new sticker designs are a change. Supernova etc look poor to my eyes. They also don't like the new gm range. Must see the hem up close i guess.
-
Gray nics Warner bats defiantly have a big bow. No handle deception.

The big bow debate is the only, and I mean only niggle I have with b3, I tend to have my handles forward set to compensate for this. But I do wish they'd add more bow to there repetoir.
-
^ I explicitly specified a Big Bow for the bat - my preference / spec to a custom bat maker written in their CAD/3D diagram of the bat - and they did not do it!
-
Yawn, Gray Nicolls sponsored player uploads pictures of his ridiculously big bats.
In my opinion these bats are nothing more than a marketing drive, the prime example of the obsession with bigger is better in the bat world. Look at the size of the bats Amla, Jayasuria, flintoff, Lara et al used. Tiny in comparison yet they didnt have any trouble getting the ball over the rope.
Nothing more than a placebo effect.
-
It's just a visual marvel and is impressive seeing them that size.
-
Upon close inspection I'm convinced he's a slob.;-)

Wonder how long would last, two seasons max?

Your on the wrong forum if you believe any bat will last that long.

Aussie commentators did a segment with Warner's bat during a lunch segment. The ball went pretty far.
-
So I'm assuming this is a new range in Australia for next year then
-
correct.

Botham, Gilchrist, Hayden, symonds, Gibbs, Kallis, flintoff, pietersen, trescothick, jayasuria and quite a few more used to use regular size bats with thin edges, didn't have any problem finding the rope or putting it in the stands.
Bloke called bradman did pretty well with a toothpick.

Yet flintoff raved about big bats, and even used Ben cuttings in the bbl. as they were so much better than what he had.

Didnt luke wright do a piece with bats through the ages last season? His bat just flew compared to the rest he trailed.

I remember seeing this when it was released. It can't be anywhere near unbiased though can it? GN wouldn't exactly let their current ranges get trashed by one of their sponsored players. Wright still seems perfectly capable of whacking it with the old style bats too. Not that I can talk because I quite like big edges :D
-
Main thing from that video is showing that a good county batsman can still put it over the stands with a 2lb5oz toothpick! He's more consistent as the bats get more modern, but you'd be bloody disappointed if after 120 years of batmaking they hadn't got a bit better at it! Guarantee the bats get progressively heavier which will account for most of the difference.

some of these pro's nowadays are big fellas, KP and Freddie are big blokes......
Personally I think the difference is lighter clefts which allow a full profile but only way about 2 lb 10oz-whereas before that shaped bat would be 2lb 15 ....
I think generally on the forum big edges are seen as more popular than the old style.... :)

This should give you some answers as to why the bats are bigger....

I thought it looked like he had one of Warners bats in one of the Big Bash games, just with the Kaboom stickers taken off (leaving the GN ones of course ;) )
-
So @skip1973 what you got in??

GN must have given head office a few of next seasons bats, we didn't get any. I doubt they have much but I will find out Monday.
-
The XP 80 is for 80 mm spine, it's the small edge version of warners bats.

I long for these babies, too :D

Did anyone see his leading edge against PAK that looked like it had been middled through the covers?
