Can anybody tell me in cm/mm how far up the middle is on an M&H Amplus and does that apply to the edge as well?
-
25-26 cm from the toe. 3.8 cm thick edges. Weight 2-13.4 with single grip and no scuff sheet.
Has a bow too. :D

On mine it starts at the toe and finishes at the shoulders!

I love mine, which is a similar shape. People think that as its a seemingly highish middle it won't be good in the driving zone of the bat, which is untrue. You also benefit from the real light pick up, which may allow you to use a slightly heavier bat than usual. Here's a pic of my new (round face) one for reference to get an idea I hope.

This is the beauty of Amplus, I can drive, cut/pull, and get under a good/back of good length ball (from a high position on the bat) and clear the rope. In a middle practice last season, I got under a length ball and dispatched it over cow corner. The ball left a mark around 30/31 cm mark from the toe. Also, with a high middle bat, I go through my shots faster than my low-mid/low bats.

Wouldn't a lower middle result in faster bat speed than a high middle, effectively being a longer lever between your hands and the majority of the mass?
Might be a stupid question but I'd have thought having the mass higher up the blade would result in getting through your shots slower rather than faster, due majority of the weight/mass/swell being closer to your hands/the lever in the swing :-[
(P.S I have probably butchered that explanation!)

What you are asking makes logical sense. It is my experience that I go thru my shots faster with my M&H Amplus than other bats with lower mass. My CA SM-18 has a mid/low sweet spot and is my first match bat - I open - and I never miss a shot with that bat especially when pulling. In my first season of my Amplus, I was early in nearly half of my shots. It took a while to get the timing right. I wait a fraction of a second longer before swinging my Amplus.

You guys think too much, just get out there and hit it out of the park.😀

If we did not, it wouldn't be so much fun. :D

Will the bat speed also depend on whether you are a bottom handed or a top hand player ? I'm a bottom handed player and I bring down the bat with my right hand. So I prefer bottom heavy bats which helps me play front foot mostly. But if you are a top hand player wouldnt the bottom hand just be for gliding? Note: I'm trying to do a self analysis of my batting and the above is merely my theory.

I'm rather front foot dominant and love my amplus, crashed some lovely drives to the boundary with it

I play with two team mates who both have amplus bats...the high middle helps massively with pick up but don't think this hampers any other shots- m and h certainly have been the subject of some negative stuff, and rightly so, but this model in isolation is a remarkable bat and I would go as far as too say ground breaking design. They really do pick up 3 or 4 oz's lighter than dead weight
M and h have got this one dead right, I remember when they come out thinking no one is going to buy this we are not in Australia.
I was definitely wrong... :)
