I thought it might be a bit of fun for everyone to record here the first score they get (good and bad) with all the new 50% specials coming out. Just a little inter forum rivalry to spur on some long knocks. I will have mine recorded later today.
Anyone else keen?

Great idea.
I look forward to posting a single figure score in Mid April
-
I'm game for this, brilliant idea. I myself will not be using it for its first game out but one of the lads at uni will so will have two different scores to be recorded if that counts. One tomorrow when they use it and one in a few months when I finally play a game!
-
I won't have a game until May but I'll tell you my score now 0 (14). All plays and misses haha

I will have mine done later today as well... As long as the rain they are predicting for this arvo stays away
-
Goodluck mate. All tamworth cricket off again! Having a shocking season for rained out games
-
We have only played 9 games so far this season
-
Didn't happen today. We bowled the opposition out for 56, decided to give a few others a go at the top and we cruised to victory 7 down!! Was next in but thankfully not required.
-
Prizes!
I will shout a night on the town for the top score and lowest score, the only catch is you will need to to provide transport and accommodation to Christchurch NZ.
Looking forward to paying out

How about Queenstown? I will be there on the 28th Feb ;-)
Well we played... Nothing impressive score wise... I got 22.... Four x 4's though and "The Thing" pings like a bitch.... WOW WOW WOW
-
That's a good mark in the ground, 22 to beat lads.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make Queenstown but it will be a stunning time to be down there.

Glad you got on the pitch for a game mate after all the washouts, Me ...... I hurt my back yesterday arvo at work
and had to pull out, 7weeks without a game :(
-
Bad luck mate sorry to hear
-
First use gteed this Sat, I will be back opening, I've been knocking it in all week, can't even put a dent in it but it feels good and already to go.
Anyone else near to having a hit?
-
Cheeky 85 today chasing 180 and a good team win. Bat felt outstanding for its first outing. Will get better for sure. Must say it attracted plenty of attention and a number of chuckles at the size and pickup.
Cheers streaky and Dave.......legends!
-
Well done mate.... I didn't use mine this week because of the rain and the damp track so used one of my others today
-
Top stuff mate glad your enjoying your bats

Umpire looks to be thoroughly enjoying himself....

Does indoor cricket count for the first knock? If so, I want to return mine as it obviously has a hole in the middle!
-
:(
56 today in 34 degrees, really struggled to get going Ng but I'll take it
Im gutted as it appears I have cracked the toe! I spent most of my time knocking in the toe so maybe just bad luck.
-
Ain't me. 2 yorked. Again!
-
3rd bat with my b3 today and 3rd 50 but we lost. Top 4 playoffs and we turned up and the pitch seemed like it had been flooded earlier in the week :( :( They should be hard and fast this time of year but this one barely got above shin high and was damp ( we've had temps of 25, 26 and 26 so no excuse). Only two games left for our season, new goal is to finish with 5 fifties in a row.
-
Well our season is now finished, used my b3 in the last 5 innings, scored four 50's but never actually felt I got along with the bat and struggled to time and middle it but scored the best of the season so go figure. Also got another crack in the toe. Somewhat of a dilemma for next season, keep using a bat that didn't feel right in the middle but I scored very well with or try something else?
Anyways I'm looking forward to hearing how you guys go with your new weapons.

Name of the game is to score runs. So if your scoring why change??
There's also the school of thought that just because something feels right to you, doesn't mean it is right.
Your technique, bat choice etc may have a detrimental effect on your game, feels right but doesn't work, the new bat feels different so you automatically think "this is wrong".
Different is not always wrong.
Embrace the change and keep scoring runs.

Far too sensible a response! But can't really disagree.
How do I justify another purchase with an answer like that. :)
-
Agree completely, if it works keep using it! First b3 I had was far too bottom heavy for my liking so didn't use it much, was only when I used it as a t20 bat for one game I realised how well I hit the ball using it. My bat buying preferences have changed as a result, I think to the improvement of my batting.
-
Got to add my solid 0 to the list. Furniture well and truely rearranged!
-
Got to use the bat yesterday for some throwdowns, feels good but needs more knocking in as higher up the blade vibration is significant but the middle on the bat responded very well. Very cluncky sound through out the bat though!!
-
Ended up buying a brand new B3 Bespoke from one of the cricket team members last week for £150 (by accident as I was in the right place at the right time). Was in touch with Gary at Redback for a new bat but Gary is more elusive than ever and I needed to get a new bat as a back up to my Newbery Blitz which I bought for £250 last year. I also have a Slazenger v1200 grade 3 which I bought for £30 from Sportsdirect for nets.
Played my first innings with the B3 bat last weekend and scored 58 runs of 50/51 balls. At circa 2lb8oz this is one of the lightest cricket bats I have used since 2001 (normally use 3lb bats). I am a wristy and bottom handed player but due to the lighter weight I was playing more cross-bat shots than normal. The middle is nice however needs a bit more knocking in I think. Felt a lot of vibration when blocked couple of short balls using the top half of the bat and also one yorker sent electricity through my left arm. Overall I would score 7/10 after the first time I used the bat. Will update the score at the end of the season as I get to know the bat better.
This is my first post on Custombats, I have been reading the forums for years and it helped me a lot with various cricket gears which I have bought over the years. Thank you for a wonderful platform filled with information based on actual experiences.

18* for me in a T20 last week batting at 6, not the highest score but I could be down for the biggest 6 hit two monsters haha
-
25 for me last night, including about the 3rd straight drive of my career, the middle flies when and if i find it.
-
Haven't used mine yet
I got it from streaky as I was after a cheap bat to start the season hoping to net with it this week
And use it this weekend,
So 82 to beat it is
Wish me luck
