Title: B&S Scorch T20 bats
Post by: tommo256 on January 30, 2016, 09:58:33 AM
Morning chaps,

After Gary doing his best Sherlock Holmes, and tracking down his missing bats. I saw him yesterday to have a look at these new bats, and they are incredible!
Really nice performing, and pick up well, anyone who was at the vitas event knows what the one was like Gary had there as a demo was like, and these are just as good!

For those of us not at the event, can you let us know what they are?  Shorter blade / long handle thingies?

Sorry Fattus, they are a narrower blade by 5mm, thus giving more wood in the area that matters! Npt so much an advanced thing but seems to work

This still confuses me...the area that matters for me in the face of the bat not whats behind it. You may as well go out to bat with a middling bat that has all the wood behind the middle otherwise.

They do look like some sizable bats though and its interesting how the trend of big edges has now changed and the now en vogue thing is to have a hump back approach....or the profile of Fattus led down if you will ;)

Narrower bats ?!
If anything, wish they'd be a lil' wider.

Hi Guys just a bit more info Tommo only posts these as I don't know how to up load pictures he is not punting B&S on my behalf .
The Bats are normal length blades and standard handles the bat width is 105mm as opposed to std 108mm so 1.5 mm either side . Everyone that have seen these bats do not notice 3mm difference the edges are. Min of 40mm and pick up very nicely .
Weight wise listed below
Scorch Grade 1 willow
2.92
2.10  5 of these
2.81/2.  Sold
2.101/2

Fireball

In grade 2 Willow I have 8 of these all weighing at 2.10

I had a joker rep a few seasons back. As many know they are Harrow width short blades

I scored a good few fifties with that bat midweek, and can't say I noticed the lack width, but I did feel I was hitting it further.
More meat behind the middle? Faster bat-speed due to less surface area going through the air? No idea I'm not a scientist.

But I'm sure these b and s will go as good as they look!!

Whoa!!

In the olden days when I used lighter bats, I had couple of small bats custom made for bat speed. Amazing results! I outgrew the weight and no longer use 2-9 bats. I am contemplating a 2-13 bat in that configuration. Time to test out the trampoline L&W small in 3-0 sitting in storage.

Are these available in South Africa too? Haven't seen any in the cricket shops in Pretoria yet. Same goes for the Pollock limited edition ones.
