This arrived today for me from Online Stockists. Ajit was very helpful and was able to match my spec and weight requirements. Comms were good and he was happy to deal with my long list of demands....like bank robbery negotiations.
Yes it pings like crazy. I asked them to oil and knock it and it was good, although I'm now going to finish the job as I like to see no seam marks and my LV gets me there. How do I rate it. As good as a $800 Kookaburra Onyx Player Pro i've knocked in this season for half the price. Aesthetics, well some grain mongers would say too few, not even etc. but i wanted no blemishes or hard bars and a light bat with a long middle.
Anyway pics are here

Good specs for the weight/price $Aus 385 delivered.
Pickup is neutral. Pressing for pro grade bat (made in the pro room) is firmer than usual SS/TON and comparable to a GN.
More info on my FB page and pics of all the bats I prepare or fix if your curious.

Lovely bat there @sarg but it needs more Oil, atleast looking at the toe I am not convinced she's had any.. Hope it plays well for you.
-
Lovely bat!!
Yes, definitely needs oiling and knocking in. That is one thing with OLS bats...they provide the free knocking and oiling service but the bats are rarely oiled or knocked in.
-
Nice bat. I have seen SS ping better than most out of the packet.
-
Nice bat pal.

Guys let me clear some concerns i had just given it a wax polishing and belt sanded the toe thats why it looks dry.
The bat has been oiled properly and knocked and the service was fine. Pre oiled weight is on their FB page 1140 grams 2.8 dead with a pic of the toe.

That explains it :)..lovely bat and like the clean face..

I didn't even think of that when i posted the pics. Appreciate the attention though haha.

Just curious, why the tape/string on the handle? hanging on some kind of display?
-
I hang all my bats and those i look after for people out of their covers inside my study/ironing/home office on the sides of a cupboard using hooks. Shed hits 40+ degrees most days in summer and is damp in winter. A better system is on the cards. But out of the cover is what my B3 mate Andrew told me and I listened.

That's interesting!! I keep all my bats in covers as it get really damp in my garage and want to make sure moisture wasn't impacting the bats. Would like to know more about your/your mate's theory!!

Different climate i expect. He reckons they can sweat and dry out if left in the cover in the bag. Better the bat naturally adjust to the moisture levels. Covers are only for transport. Adelaide has lots of heatwaves in summer around Christmas and March that go for 7-10 days above 35c. Even inside the house its 26 by the end of that.

Thanks for sharing that. Different places require different treatment, I would almost shrink wrap my bats if I could in the winter months. But I guess oiling helps with that

The opposite effect is dampness producing mould inside the cover. I've had that happen early on when oiling them.
Anyway, here it is amongst the best i have. One high middle, one 20/20 short blade and this lower profile for our other home ground that is fast and low.

There is a TON Slasher I reshaped and made my own labels for fun also. Got that from Gagan at Cricmart.in. Top service.

Hadn't thought about mould. Great time for that. Liking the modified slasher stickers, better hide the slasher before mr. fat cat notices

Lovely Bat there

@sarg => Very nice bat collection ... Nice work with the re-shaped TON slasher. Reduced shoulder helps pick up ? How does it feel before and after ?
-
Nice Maximus mate. Always been keen to get one of those.

Never go wrong with SS

It was a final touch and part of a weight reduction.
I shaved the toe 2-3mm to lighten the pickup and raise the duckbill 1 cm. I then didn't like the TON stamp missing on the toe but showing on the edges. I like clean edges and the willow looked good so i sanded them off. All my SS have been less than 4 1/4 inch so 1/2 mm either side makes little difference.
I then unbinded the handle, removed a tiny bit of bog and made the base semi oval. Rebinding with much thicker 12 ply twine. Whilst there I thought stuff it lets go retro and lobbed off the shoulders after seeing JP Gavan do it to two of Andre Russell's practice bats. I didn't go Newbery Excalibur, more TT.
Pickup is balanced and the bulk of the wood i left in the hitting area. Weight reduction is significant and more weight in the handle helps.
I then made some stickers using photo paper, ms publisher and automotive paint protection film. Took a pic for the Facebook page and 2 days later i took them off.
Still deciding what to do next. Maybe use it.
