Title: IPL Pay day 2016
Post by: csnew on February 05, 2016, 11:41:17 AM
The auction is tomorrow, few players keeping an eye on how much they'll get paid.

We'll probably see the usual crazy prices for:
Yuvraj Singh - been earning 2m and hasn't done a lot
Ishant Sharma - Paid stupid amounts and gets smashed around
Steyn - Never been interested in the IPL
Watson - Probably the most indemand
Martin Guptil - In his form might get a nice deal
Michael Hussey - showed in the BBL he's still got it

There's been some talk of Buttler being one of the players with the biggest price tag - unusual for an English player leaving KP out of the picture

Kp is 2million
Buttler is 1.5 m
Billings is .3m

Not sure who else from England is in there

Buttlers base price is 1.5 but after yesterday I wouldn't be surprised if that went up to 2; plus he's available for the whole tournament...

Russell and kohli both have teams.

Munro from NZ might be a surprise and a good buy

KP seems to leave all the tournaments half way through for a couple of weeks. Anyone know why? For example he was out of the big bash for a couple of weeks.

As a Lancashire fan. This irks me somewhat.

Although he barely played for us anyway last year - and Alex Davies did do very well in all forms of the game.

Guptill to steal the show. I'm predicting he'll be $1m+

Not sure what you expected when you signed somebody already playing for England. Hardly a home grown player and I doubt Lancashire will be out of pocket.

I'd be shocked if Rashid isn't there after his BBL spell. Morgan will be there, and Bopara normally features too.

Is there a full list of players and base prices anywhere? I couldn't find one the other day.

I'm sure rashid has withdrawn himself to focus on tests and very much doubt he would get selected anyway. Plenty of leggies around in india.

Doubt Bopara will get picked up this year

I think I expected him to play for Lancashire when not playing for England. Or is that a ridiculous notion?

I think for anybody who is a regular in the England setup its optimistic.

These prices are in Indian rupees

Therefore
KP base price is £204,000
Buttler base price is £153,000
Billings base price is £3,000

I thought it was USD? Surely Billings wouldn't be paid £3k...

He can play for my bloody club for that!

Sorry meant USD not GBP

But Billings is being smart. He's a relative unknown to the Indian market by keeping his price low he should attract bids.

I wouldn't be too disappointed, I'm not sure how many invites he handed out, I'd imagine not many but who knows with KP, probably pushing for her to be named Kevin jnr though.

Some of these prices are ridiculous, Watson $2m AUD and mitch marsh $1m AUD!

Buttler and Kp sold. 3.8 and 4.5 accordingly.

Big big list of u sold players.

Khawaja at 1million was the shock to me! He's in the form of his life!
Arron finch also not sold.

Pretty sure its only for replacement drop outs and international call ups.

Hales replaces finch at Mumbai when finch injured himself last season.

Ishant sharma goes for more than KP!!

Munro and head were bargains
Not surprised Chris Jordan and Lyon went unsold

Guptil unsold probably due to being poor against spin

Rcb have a strong team by adding Watson!

You do realise that each side must field 7 Indian players in every match?

Therefore the days of overseas players getting $1.5-2m are dramatically smaller. As they are a lot more overseas players than slots available

Unproven against spin/ on the subcontinent might be a big reason.

Ponting confirms buttler is a backup overseas batsman. Looks like he'll be warming up the bench

Hence my annoyance as a Lancashire fan. Surely he'd be better playing in England than sitting on the bench in India? Perhaps not for his bank balance...

Round 2 and billings gets a gig at delhi and finch to one for the new franchises.

Some Aussies got picked up, tye, Paris, cutting, Richardson, Zampa.

Guptil, Khawaja, Bailey still without any interest in them.

That's a joke right? Proven international match winner v average windies batter (Simmons)? Maybe ponting doesn't watch international cricket anymore?

Weather a joke or not, I don't think it will take many net sessions and warm up games before buttler is in the side.

Is hales still at Mumbai this year?
He went there as worlds no2 ranked t20 player. And warmed the bench.

Mumbai Indians overseas players are as following:

Simmons(batsman)

Anderson(all rounder)
Pollard(all rounder)

Buttler(w/k)

de Lange(bowler)
Southee(bowler)
Malinga(bowler)
McClenaghan(bowler)

Considering Pollard and Anderson are likely to start most games, Buttler can slot into middle order if Anderson opens

Mumbai have also got de Kock, so Buttler has probably got to get past him as well.......

Buttler batted 3 in the big bash for renegades in 2013.

Can he not open himself?

Plenty of stumpers have, gilchrist being the obvious one.

Buttler could be playing just as a batter TBH. He's not the best keeper around and Singh is a half decent spinner. Can't be affording too many missed chances on those small Indian grounds.

You'd think that Anderson, Pollardv, Southee and Malinga would be the first picks.

Malinga is a walking injury I'd be surprised it he gets too many games.

Yeah, but that's how they'll start, perhaps?

I think Buttler should play... I reckon Punter is trying to ease the pressure on Jos. The high cost overseas signings don't generally warm the bench for too long.

Punter gotta a tricky job on his hands. Pollard and Malinga are favourites of the owners and the fans. But both have been injured since the last IPL. They probably don't merit selection but Punter's hands might be tied...
