Ha ha, took you 3 and a half mins to hit the camera,

Good coverage on that bat, ones you timed off your legs sounded lovely

Get that bat down to dummer, so we can have a go

You time the ball very nicely and you hit the ball beautifully straight down the pitch. Your balance also looks very good. Only thing that sticks out is you don't really make much of a stride with your front foot, but your hand eye seems to nullify that anyway. Keep up the good work.

Looking in good touch straight down the ground pal, nice straight bat, timed a few very nicely!

many thanks i'm only a small man i prefer to lead with my head a big stride leads me to be in a mid way position this way i play the ball under my eyes but point taken

A good eye, no question

That weight of bat lets you play your shots too, loved the slap straight, can't do that with a bat too heavy for you

How's the Shrey? I'm in the process of choosing between the masterclass air and the masuri vision ti elite so really keen to hear opinions. I've heard some bad things about Shrey's being broken out the box, cheaper materials, poorer craftsmanship etc.. but I like a light helmet so I'm still considering it over the masuri. Good batting btw!

@procricket B3 Looks good playing half volleys. but not sure why your left leg goes so far back playing square on the offside. looks odd.... You pretty much playing the shot on one leg which restricts the amount of power you can put behind it because of lack of balance. Stand tall on both feet and smack it  :)
btw, ever decide to part ways with that bat, hola me :D

I can assure you they where not half volleys (well not all of them) but fair enough i was look for balance on the set.

Agree about back foot something in the pipeline  :D weight still going through ball through balance but i agree

This is a good bat  :D

Cheers for the feedback mate.

Your back foot strokes resembles more like a sub continent player through the off. I'm myself practising to play more like and English or an Aussie. Because at the moment I cut too much. How do you play in front of the wicket even if the ball is short. Is that a mindset or technical adjustment ?/

Post by: procricket on February 06, 2016, 12:03:12 AM
I do not like the cut i try to get on top of the ball and play as late as possible and chop down i never noticed my back foot i guess it a habit from playing late and letting the ball come to be if that makes sense. the reason for the first bucket on the legs i'm a wristy player and i want to play more in the V.

However i do sometimes lack the power cricketfrek is talking about so point is very much taken and will be worked on

off side after 1=08m

not nearly as strong i get the bat away from my body quite a bit working hard on this area

oh sorry half volley or two thrown in there  :D

Get the strokes right is my coaches motto and enjoy learning I'm definitely  in confirmation of shot time happy with tonight session cheers @RF

Oreet Dave, what speed was t machine on?

It looks like it takes you a bit, to start playing em back through covers?
Almost like your trying to hit too straight?

Would be good to see you bat on grass, with a field set
What's your main scoring shot?
Title: Re: Me Batting
Post by: procricket on February 06, 2016, 08:07:32 AM
All round the wicket very right I was trying to play all night as straight as possible.

Grass i would say my aim is to get the bowler to bowl  straight to be line them up but on side  picking area for me.

Speed throughout was around 70 if you see me aim was under the eye and make the ball bounce before it hits the net play as late as possible.

Main aim was head and balance and my aim was to hit as straight as possible

Speed training no need at the minute.
Title: Re: Me Batting
Post by: Northern monkey on February 06, 2016, 08:12:09 AM
That's good batting on that speed setting, would have to be a rock hard track to face that speed on grass

Title: Re: Me Batting
Post by: procricket on February 06, 2016, 08:17:13 AM
yes I'm quite fussy I what I want to try and do is get technical issues at lower speed.

But to be honest for me batting is not about leg position it's about head leading not the leg.

Midway position is the curse of most club
Cricketers in my eye.

You can never stop learning I been watching abv videos on YouTube and a few other guys the box principle is a personal favourite of mine.

Looks great dave, nice stance, pickup and your bat comes through really nice.

Like others have mentioned, a bigger stride with front foot could help, as you rotate your body square and walk into the shot after contact. I think a bigger stride would give a more stable base, help you generate more power without your back leg coming into play.

Well done though, look a quality player 😃
Title: Re: Me Batting
Post by: procricket on February 06, 2016, 08:41:16 AM
The leg side there was a bit of walking onto them with the head and agree about the rotation the thing I was trying to do more than anything because I tend to whip it through mid wicket was hit straight and my main aim was to get head and hands through without the rear hip rotation so to play either mid on or if it swinging which it was set on 2 on the machine glance it down to fine leg from same position.

There was quite a bit of swing on them to try and make me fall over

James cheers pal things to work on pal
Title: Re: Me Batting
Post by: Northern monkey on February 06, 2016, 08:52:34 AM
The straight slap in the first vid was a lovely shot, that's gonna go past any bowler twice as fast as he's bowled it.
To me that's what batting so about, it is a competition between batsman and bowler foremost
Picking length and shot selection are crucial, but it's all about scoring opportunities
No good looking good, if it doesn't go off the square, I'm sure you've seen plenty of batters like that.

I'm a big kp fan, purely because of how he can destroy good bowling, he's worked on his Strength shots, and not focused on his weaknesses
The newer England lads seem to try for a similar freedom, one days anyway.
The gilchrist masterclass is interesting too and gives a good insight into his shot making decisions

There's a good lesson there for us all not to stand still with our game, there's always areas to improve and learn.
Fair play to you boss,

And if you want any tips on clearing cow corner!ha I'm your man

and then to tie in my bat to the session as i said dotball does bounce around 2in more than most grass surfaces so bat splatter mark as expected was at around

its how i get bats shapes this would suggest i need a higher middle but on grass it doesn't get as high as that normally.

Had a look at both vids excellent  reactions  and well balanced looks good off the back foot good shot selection apart from a pull to leg from outside off stump would lead with the head when driving and get the front foot out towards the ball otherwise okay

And is that rip in dotball a floor?

Mate why not do it pal more should i have a very good coach who knows his beans so comments on here are taken but maybe not acted on.

I know my game but always looking to improve even in my late years playing.

Scoring runs is so much more than technical so so much more.

First video 3:05 best shot, played straighter and didnt try to 'whip' the ball too much.

Coming from a bowler, you're a decent bat... Still fancy my slower ball yorkers and sweet chin music though ;) ill see if i can sort out some of videos of myself at nets soon!
Title: Re: Me Batting
Post by: procricket on February 06, 2016, 11:40:06 AM
cool challenge accepted maybe come up for to Sheffield for a net pal it a bouncy deck at Dotball as @smilley792 will testify I would say 60/40 for the bowler always up for a challenge pal.

Not worried about short stuff most can't do it right anyway and most certainly are not quick enough to do it either !!!

I saw the other day you like batting on the machine above 85 mph now chin music who do you play for pal you must be a top order batsman at a premier league club and with chin music I can honestly say I have faced some of the world quickest  in the leagues I have played in but fair play if your bowling 80 plus

You play in East Sussex league 2 yeah??

Side in that league called hailsham. My old mate varun khullar plays for them, he won shot at he pros on sky a few years back.

He's quick, but I never minded his chin music in games(he tried to bowl enough) And daves a far far superior batsmen than I ever will be.
