Ha ha ha, I remember my secondary school having those in the bag!!
-
You can still get these I think.
My local garden centre sells something that looks similar, anyway...
-
My dad had a pair of those. Grim. They were ghastly!
The worst item I have seen is an aluminium box with horse hair round the edge...
-
Dont suppose anyone ever complained about them being too stiff.

To be honest I wouldn't mind a pair. I find most gloves these days are too bulky. I am quite a compact player and find the bulky gloves get in the way. Also, the number of times I get hit on the gloves in a season is minimal despite playing on a bouncy track. I feel many of us have unnecessarily good padding for both gloves and pads.

Yeah but one nasty hit on the gloves and you could break some fingers meaning your out for many months. Gloves should be top priority protection wise imo

Each to their own, but I'd rank at least my box and my helmet ahead of gloves (in that order!) :D

I actually own a pair of these
-
I used to use these many moons ago when I was a schoolboy; from personal experience, and two broken fingers, can confirm that they were absolutely useless :(. But hey, we didn't know any better back then!

They were My first gloves in club cricket they were comfortable without the bulk never had a finger or hand injury wearing them.
