Title: First post on here
Post by: Eliotroberts on February 08, 2016, 02:18:24 PM
Hello there, this is my first post. I'm a coach for my local junior teams coaching over 100 people each week. Ive decided this year I'm going to start playing again and for that need some new gear. I've recently found this forum very helpful as I'm looking to buy a new bat for the upcoming season and some pads and gloves. Think this year I have decided thanks to your tips I've taken from posts read that in swaying towards a b3 bat and affinity pads and gloves. Anybody had any good/bad experiences ? Cheers guys look forward to hearing from you all

You'll get loads of different advice and loads of different offers of supply, as kit is very subjective.

However, if you've nearly decided, then drop a quick line to @procricket B3  on here and @Ayrtek  and they will reassure of the quality of both brands.

Hi Elliiot  and welcome  cant help you with advice on the kit you want as the only kit i have any in depth knowledge  of Is GN but speak  with Dave Procricket B3 who is always very helpful and knowledgeable.

Don't have any first hand knowledge of Affinity but can testify to the quality of B3's bats, top top performance in my opinion!

TBH you won't go far wrong with any of the forum sponsors, all have gear at most price points and all are quality... You don't have to buy the dearest they have to get nice gear also..  Take your pick from the sweetie shop so to speak....

This year I have gone with H4L bats and softs with an Ayrtek helmet thrown in the mix..

I'll second the vote for H4L

This time next week I hope to have been to Matt's workshop and I will no doubt have picked myself some goodies!  :D

Affinity bats are awesome, as are the softs! There are loads of great options on here, H4L, B3, Red Ink, B&S etc not to mention the retailers

Yeah I really like the look of most of the brands you guys are pushing my way. Was reccomended a b3 bat from a lad I now play on the same team as and I've had the chance to hit a few balls with it and it pings lovely. I'm using all puma gear at the moment that's 4-5 years old so due new gear for my comeback. I'm 6"3 by the way guys if that helps for pads as I've heard a lot of pads now aren't very big is this right? Thanks again

I'm about 6'3" and I get on alright with regular mens pads but most of my height is in my body if that makes sense, my legs aren't much longer than an average height fella.

Haha fair play mate. So regular right hand pads will be good for me. Just picking which ones now. Didn't really expect the affinity gear to be so expensive to the tune of £150 for pads and gloves but as the guy I was talking to earlier via email says the quality is good. Any other alternatives ?

I'm also in the 6'3" club and lanky with it, varies from brand to brand I find with pad length I find. GM/GN/Kookaburra all come up short for me, most other companies I've tried have been there or thereabouts but it's always worth checking. Stuck with Puma for the last few years as for me they're a nice fit.

Check the softs section of H4L out you will get last years at just over £90 posted, for a pair of pads and gloves, check out B&S uk they do really nice softs also, cheaper than the £150 and Focus from Vitas, Jake could sort you out any of those three and more..

Actually you probably sort yourself out for pads and gloves from most of the sponsors on here for less than £100 or there about all may not be 2016 models but all will be good..

If your going to get a b3 bat, you might as well match. The chap that designs our pads and gloves has done so for the past 26 years for the worlds elite, so he knows what he is doing and at £135 a little cheaper too!

At £85 for the pads and £65 for the gloves Inc delivery the price I quoted was a fair reflection on the quality of goods I think 👌

Before the forum I had owned 3 bats in the first 19/20 years of my life. Since I really got involved in the forum (Ages 20-24) I have probably gone through around 20 bats, 18 pairs of gloves, 4 sets of pads. But only 2 sets of Helmets, Shoes and Bags, so that's a victory I guess

Haha, you say that but there is a lot of nice gear out there and it is mighty tempting.

In my single days I could never understand why people were like 'Show us your gear stash' or 'I'e gotta hide the gear from the missus', but having missus for the last 3 years has helped me understand why and I am now also apart of that group hahaha  :-[
