Finch in squad but smith nnounced as captains.
Squad seems random.
Men's squad: Steve Smith (capt), David Warner, Ashton Agar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Aaron Finch, John Hastings, Josh Hazlewood, James Faulkner, Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Peter Nevill (wk), Andrew Tye, Shane Watson, Adam Zampa
Wade dropped for nevill. Nevill a very good glove man, but did nothing with the bat in bbl and the WC will be his debut.
Boyce dropped. Agar and Zampa chosen as spinners. Agar not featured since odis one England.
No Lynn or head, but Khawaja in there despite being overlooked in recent t20s(rightly selected in my mind.
All I'll say looking st the side and the recent t20s. The Aussie selectees have no idea who there best side is and are just guessing.!

Hedging bets selections. Plenty of 'all rounders' to lengthen the batting. Our record in India is awful in recent times.
Aside from NCN we have no real pace. Odd to see Nevill displace Wade...
IMO it's best Smith captain across the board.
-
Neville is seen as a better gloveman than wade and with spin playing a role in the Indian conditions they needed to play the better keeper.
Unless Finch's hammy is worse than we think removing the (c) next to his name is bizarre and not even being (vc) is odd.
The selectors seem to be shooting blind with selections at the moment.

Agree re Smith, if he's in your best XI then he should be skipper, would send a weird message if he captains Finch in ODI stuff but then is captained by Finch in T20.

I'm not sure that Smith is a walk up start in the T20 format.

This is the key. Warner is now V/C across the board. In all fairness to Finch, even if Smith and Warner missed an ODI someone like Bailey would captain not Finch.

We'll have to agree to disagree then! I reckon they'll go:
Warner
Finch
Khawaja
Smith
Maxwell
Marsh

Thought Boyce did well in the one game he got, but been impressed with Zampa in the BBL.
About time they got rid of wade, one thing talking on the field and there's another backing it up with performances. Wade's never backed it up. He's also pretty poor player of spin.
Least they've finally got rid of Shaun marsh even with his subcontinent experience he's had enough chances. Can't afford to take 4 openers.

Classic case of 'our bowling's not looking too good so we'll take 8 blokes who can bowl'? Harsh not to take Lynn especially as he's played subcontinent before.

Good to see Smith as captain across all formats ! Though the way captaincy has changed hands with Finch injured is not desirable, but i think this is a very good step for aus to take the evading T20 crown ... Including Nevill in the place of Wade is also a welcome move. Aus cricket board is actively listening to all criticism from Haddin :D ...
