Title: Softs
Post by: H4Ladam on February 13, 2016, 11:59:46 AM
Hi all.
After reading a few posts on here about softs, and companies simply re-colouring and passing off as their own, thought I'd post some pics.
Each year we try and design new softs that have something different. That could be shape, materials, protection etc. We get multiple samples made to test. We have even been out to the factories in India to sit with the manufacturers and test every part. With lower end ranges, it is often easier and cheaper to adapt an existing design.

We now have an agreement with our suppliers that our selected ranges and certain design features will be exlusive to us.

Here were some 2015 samples with detailing in the pittards and armour inserts. These would be pretty hard for anyone else to copy  ;)
We didn't go to full production this time, but still on the drawing board.

If you'd been more polite I'd have let you have them, but as you opened with "Bore off!"

@H4Ladam whatever Woody would pay add £5 to the price and I'll collect them Monday ;)

That's an incredible design. H4L seem to be becoming the Apple of softs!

But some credit must also go the supplier for living up to it..

Lovely - finally someone who ISN'T putting writing and colour on their designs.

My biggest bug bear with nearly all cricket gear is the frankly hideous use of colour and determination to put writing/names/logos on everything and everywhere.

The colour used in bat labels is hideous to my eyes. As are most fonts.

If your logo could be made even smaller, that would be great!

Thanks for all the positive feedback.  :-[
Unfortunately these are not for sale. I used them all last year to "test"! They are extremely comfortable, up there with our new Customs.

We will be refining them and some more designs for 2017. Interesting split on "to colour or not to colour". We will definitely be bringing in colour next year.

How about you move the devil logo so that it lines up when holding the bat?

@H4Ladam @hell4leather cricket

In love with the new custom softs but was a bit upset that the embossed logos on the gloves and pads doesn't show up as prominently to show the potential admirers that these are H4L softs. Anyway of getting something done as they're supposedly called "custom" or are these fixed styles? As in ideally I'd like the H4L embossed logo on the pads to be chrome as well as the devil on the gloves to be chrome to slightly make them prominent.

I've got a pending order with Jake at the moment, and having originally ordered the legend pads/gloves, I am going to switch the gloves out for the H4L all white gloves I think...

Agreed. The 2016 H4L softs ooze understated elegance. If people like what they see but can't make out the brand, they'll have to come a little closer!

Meanwhile, I went for the bright pink Puma EvoSpeed Bat and Gloves so people could see how terrible my pull was from hundreds of miles away...

I got the new custom softs and two bats the softs are so nice and I think they stand out really well and protection levels are spot on I believe they are the best on the market at the moment really impressive

Received mine yesterday in China and am very pleased, just sold a 2 net old pair of GN Legends where the thumb cup drew claret. The H4L custom gloves have much thicker palms and feel in general to me more comfortable.

If you feel the customs are a little out of your price range, I would recommend the G1 softs. Quality wise they are awesome and the G1 sausage finger gloves are my favourite gloves from H4L as I prefer to use leather palms. Currently using the BAS pro blue and white gloves which are some of the best gloves I have used. But I think the G1 H4L gloves may be next on my list along with the pads. The whole soft range is awesome and I would highly recommend them.

I like the design as it means you can use them with any bat lol

I have purchased the Custom Softs (pads and gloves) from UZI sports and used them for the first time yesterday.

They are really comfortable and offer excellent protection - hit on pads a couple of times and felt nothing.

One disappointment however was I put the Right hand glove on went to do it up and part of the stitching from the strap came loose - may have to contact Matt or UZI about this.
which is a shame as the gloves are very good and comfortable.

Further from my recent post

I was just clearing my kit and noticed my new H4L custom pads have a mark. After only one use. I know it happens but very frustrating after only the first use. Any way to sort this?
