Right so now most of you have ordered/received your bats, what are you all recommending, I soooooo need some help choosing!!
I'm possibly thinking the original TKC around 2.12 or DB1 thoughts please...
-
I recommend a copy of the Laver Monster ???? /s
In all seriousness though, I love the TKC shape so would be very envious!!
-
I'd thoroughly recommend a Big Dave Warner copy, happily post loads more photos if required ;)

Photos would be nice, I'm guessing it weighs a lot heavier than 2.12 though??

There are some photos on page 48 of the 50% off thread here;

Weighs in at 2.14.7, really doesn't feel that heavy however.
Happily post some more if you like.

Mull is a great option at 2-12
-
1271.
-
Mull is a great option but for a 2-12 I would go for the finis consillious
However for pure pick up a 2-12 db1 would be very good in terms of pick up
-
My mull is outstanding, can't recommend it enough

Few questions to ask - where do you hit the most? What is your comfort wrt weight? Get these data to doc and i am sure you will have a proper suggestion. The weight is very critical . If you are comfortable with heavy weights then certainly go for pepsi.
-
Parth does speak with much logic however have you a favourite bat you like which could be mapped.
Pepsi is decent pick up wise but mull is a great pick up too.
Of course it matters where you hit the ball the Pepsi has a slightly higher middle over the mull but the db1 pick up is something else.
See where most marks are on your bat centrally (not edges like us mere mortals) and we can work out so much better of what you want.

I take it I've missed out on these 50% bargains? :(

Most of my marks are mid to high on both the warbird and the Devil, 2.12 would be as heavy as I would like to go TBH...
-
I can't recommend the Pepsi enough, proper chuffed with mine, think 2lb14oz is the lowest they tend to go although as Dave says, the pickup is excellent!

I have the new db1 in butterfly, 2.8, 36mm edges, picks up great.
-
If 2.12 is your limit then certainly rule out the pepsi as they start quite heavy. With my limited knowledge, May i suggest that , you can try the modified xlphon shape- they have not been made till now - or other profile such as tonto or new db1..
-
I have a big and small xlphon it currently at b3 but it sure picks up well.
Tonto for mid high would be a very good choice and come in at around 2-12 in your weight
The db1 would be a denser cleft as it uses less of the wood than a Tonto.
Pick up wise db1 picks better than the other two all things being equal ie density.
-
guys, any suggestions for a mid to low middle light weight bat profile to go for? I can't lift heavy bats so won't go over 2.8/9.
-
DB2 adult light bat maybe?

What's the difference on the db1/2 bats now? Mid middles or?

Gaz Cross profile comes in around 2.9 with a mid to low middle. So does shape #14 on their list as well.

Shape 18 can be got down to 2lb 8/9 I think. Very good shape!
-
Ive got a #19 at 2lb8.75 and its still quite chunky. Might have to do a bit of bespoking on a particular shape to knock an ounce off here or there

Seconded, Gaz Cross fits the bill perfectly. I've actually got a #15 weighing 2.10 which has got a mid/low middle. It's a seriously chunky bat, with great coverage all over. Maybe worth a punt if you want to go a bit heavier, if not then Gaz Cross profile will be spot on.

Do you by chance have a review or pictures posted here on the forum? :D

Haven't got any pics of the Gaz Cross but this is my current B3 #15 weighing just over 2.10 and picks up beautifully. Great coverage in this bat, it pretty much responds from the bottom of the stickers through to just above the toe.

Lovely bat mate, I guess I'll have to wait for the next B3 butterfly offer :-P
-
I'm dropping into B3 tomorrow with my Mullanator for a refurb and I'm using my voucher and asking for an identical twin - bat suits me perfectly, absolutely no reason for me to change.
The Mullanator is a great shape and would probably come in around your max weight...
-
I eent down to B3 today and I had a few shapes in mind before going however I've come away with a 2 Stripe Gaz Cross (num. 4 shape). The pickup was top notch and the middle is mid to low which works for me. I contemplated the Trott but it was just too unwieldy when cutting and pulling. I've hopefully pickup a nice looking 400 density cleft and I was lucky to find out that B3 has the all white stickers back in stock so I decided on those. Can't wait! :D

I'm possibly thinking the original TKC around 2.12 or DB1 thoughts please...
I finally managed to visit B3 today (got there ahead of you @liscon12) and with some great help from Gav (streaky was having a lie in 😉) came away with a 2.12 TKC 3 stripe, a little heavier than I usually use but it's a nice shape with a decent pick up and felt great with the ball.
The new DB1 also felt good, but stock in the shop is getting low so didn't get to try as many of the other shapes as I had hoped.
If you can visit the factory I strongly recommend as it is great to see the set up, hear about the manufacturing process and pick your bat or cleft.

I got there about 12pm and was in for around an hour with Tom, he left me to look through the 2 stripe clefts but there wasn't many left around the 400 weight, lots of 415+ weights.

Just posted pics and info on my new TKC in the 50% B3 thread

My suggestion; talk to Streaky, tell him how you play, pitches you play on, any previous bat you've gone on with and go from there, rather than focusing on a Pepsi or Warner or whatever else you've seen look pretty on a forum :)
