So heres the thing... Stand up wheelies are becoming more of a comkon thing now with people wanted to save space in the changing room but also have alot of kit in them! But what would be your best bag if you could have it your way?
I found that the dividing shelf always collapses and everything falls in to the lower section which is a pain because you never want to be pulling your whole bag out to get to something! Maybe securing all 4 sides a bit like the aero bag so it doesnt collapse might be an option?
I love the idea of having a shoe tunnel as quite frankly my shoes stink! So this is a must for both of my boots
The GM I have doesnt allow you to have the divider high enough to get your pads in the same section, so this is also a must.
If im honest i would probably have a H4L tempo but with some zips on the side so you can get to each section individually as well as open the whole front instead of the 2 large pockets on the side.
And an all important valuables pocket inside, i know IJC would love that!!
What are your thoughts?

My perfect stand up wheelie.
Top opening,
3 protective bat covers.
Seperate white pocket.
Seperate shoe tunnel.
2side pockets.
Valuable pockets.
Big padded carry straps.
No wheels.......
So basically a duffle.
-
Unless you have to, due to transport, why carry all that weight on your shoulders Chris?

Never had a wheelie that's lasted a season, they rip and scuff on the floor as there dragged along.
They bang the back of your legs. if slightly loaded to one side they twist and fall over.
They take up far too much room.
Duffle, never had an issue with weight(car park to changing rooms isn't really that far is it?), can fit so so much gear in, and after a full season my kook still looks brand new.
Plus my team mates love me as I take up sod all room in the changing room.
-
Anything that can easily sit in my car. Big duffle bag does, wheelie bag does not.
-
Damn you duffle lovers
-
CK22 Duffle for me. Like Chris has said, a trip from the car to the changing room isn't that far. Two straps and you get on with it. Nothing worse than having to drag a bag along the floor. Also they take up far too much room. Duffle you can just put on the bench where you change and take it down when you need to sit down
-
Also wheeling through muddy puddles, water gets into the metal that holds the wheels on, wheels start squeaking
And not to mention the trail behind you of mud

Sorry guys....not convinced. I've got an Aero stand up and they take up bugger all room. I'd recommend anyone to get one. I can't see how a 1xmetre long standup wheely takes up any more room than a big duffle. I have absolutely no interest in lugging 15kgs or so on my back and my Aero has no damage from the season.

Add in a helmet pocket and it's there - plus 3 wheels for stability. From the bottom upwards:-
Front:-
Front pocket - shoes
Pocket above for helmet
A bigger zipped area for access to pads/gear and a hidden padded valuables pocket
Side Pockets - 2 one side and a ;arge whites pocket the other
Top pocket for gloves/light stuff
3 Padded bat caves
3 Wheels on the bottom
You want it to primarily function as an upright bag but without having to carry it.

Exactly with the option of using it as a standard double decker?
I need to do some drawings, basically might be able to create a bag that is a mixture of the all stand up bags!
-
Although thinking about it with a shoe tunnel, helmet pocket, pads pocket and a pocket for light stuff all stacked on top of eachother it starts getting quite tall and impractical for car boots
-
Shoe tunnel/helmet, in the same space, a double decker compartment, saving the length of the bag?

Yeah could do that i do actually like having my pads seperate in my GN bag but the front pocket isnt quite big enough for the OSM pads so its a bit of a squeeze

Like the kook pro duffle, have 2 top zips. One opens a top section and the one below opens in the area behind the shoe and helmet pockets. Alternatively, do away with the side smaller pockets and create 1 large "pad pocket" on either side. Create a 3rd small pocket between the helmet pocket /top section for what would of been in the side pockets.
-
Not a bad option:-

However, wouldn't want my whites and mucky boots together.

@uknsaunders I had this bag. The internal shelf isn't actually strong enough to hold the kit in the picture so I ended up just taking it out!
The Zips also came away from the seams on those side pockets after 3/4 uses so the bag was returned rather sharpish!

Saying that though, the bat cave was really good!

@UKnsaunders I have this currently! I agree with RAL the shelf is terrible and one zip dod come away from the seem but i sewed that back so wasnt very fussed.
But the fromt pocket is designed for pads but they dont fit very well and the valuable pocket is tiny!
But the bat cave works well if you have a short handle i had to cut off the bottom bit of the foam insert for my LH to fit properly

This is something i drew up a while ago.
Similar to the the old GN duplex wheelie, unsure how to make the shelves stable just yet! Maybe a little bit of cane in the end to stop the top from bending when standing up, and thicker velco strips on shelevs to help with the force applied when weight added (Velcro is very strong if used properly)!
Sorry about my hand writing :(

Not entirely sire its possible to have an external bat cave and a suitcase handle?
I do like the first 1 though, not overly keen on the 2 pads pockets on either side.
You could even change the helmet section so you can open it from the main section also? And that left a big space at the back for pads, i wouldnt mind both helmet and shoe pocket to be solid either so it was easier to throw them in when the pads are in the back
-
@uknsaunders also how would the top section work with the bat cave in the way 😵
-
I think I was just showing where it is than inside or outside. Makes sense for it to be integrated into the bag so it doesn't stop any pockets opening. Like the idea of fixed sections with a dedicated pad section accessed through the top and between the other pockets and bat cave.
Some massive ocd showing here, but some of us like to know what specific place our kit is stored!

What would be useful is to have a big vented pocket on the side instead of two smaller pockets and use it smelly kit. Clean kit in the top and used kit in the side. If the other side two pockets where big enough to hold thigh pads and gloves that would work really well.

I think we are just making alternatives to the aero now but i like it!
