Title: AOC Competition Winner
Post by: Mr_Orange on February 17, 2016, 03:50:17 PM
So, I entered the AOC Christmas Quiz last year and totally forgot about it. Today I receive an email telling me that I'd won the 'just for entering' prize of a £300 bag of kit! That did bring some cheer to a rainy dull day.

Anyway, after a few checks all I can find is that the prize is a bag full of kit, no specifics. Let the guessing games commence!

Normally it's a Barrington Sports job lot - either way it's £300 worth of kit for free, happy days!

I entered this gutted I didn't win. I can't wait to see the answer as I think I did really well.

Congrats on the kit. I don't think I have the mag anymore to check what was in the offer

And so, a mere 4 months after getting the email saying I'd won this kit bundle I received an email from the courier yesterday and the package is due to be picked up today and delivered by the end of this week! I will obviously keep you posted on what surprises await!

Despite a slightly longer than anticipated wait, the package has arrived! I'll post some pictures up when I get the chance however the parcel contained:

All in all a really good box of goodies. The bat is a beauty. Just need to decide what I'm keeping!

It's not even matching, I'd complain  ;)

Some photos! (Else the prize doesn't exist, obviously...). Really impressed with the quality of the prizes, whether I'll use some of it or if they're to my tastes is irrelevant when it's a free prize!

The bat is lovely, weighs around 2.8 with 8 straightish grains and I'm not one for spine heights, edge sizes etc down the last mm so I didn't bother measuring. All I'm fussed about is that it picks up really well and after hitting a ball a few times it pings nicely too, think I might keep this!

Gloves and Bag - really impressed with the gloves although I'd say the quality isn't quite as good as my GN Prestige, nice Pittards palms though - RRP on the bag for the gloves states 80.00 GBP. Good quality bag, although not the biggest stil plenty of storage.

Thigh guard set, pads and shoes - thigh guards seem good quality but don't think they'd do much with quicker bowling. Nice towling on the inside but I've got some Strettons so the comparison isn't there! Bag says 35.00 GBP rrp. Someone at my club is having these off me. Same with the pads (sticker on the packaging says 45.00 GBP), I wear GN Legends and these feel really thin in comparison but they've already been bought by someone at my club. The shoes look like they've already been worn a few times so maybe an old sample pair or display pair possibly? Won't be something I'd wear personally.

What's the fit like on the thigh pad set, mate?

Standard mens is the size, I'd say it was similar in size to P2 strippers.
