Was lucky enough to pick this up today.  Puma Gilchrist Classic WC-03 Custom Edition.  No. 126/150.  This is also shown on the handle, although my photo isn't very clear.  This bat is unused and is number 126 of only 150 made to celebrate the 2003 Cricket World Cup.  The bat was made for the Australian market and was bought from the Greg Chapple cricket centre and sent to the UK back in 2003.

 Weight - 2lb 11.3oz
 Edge - Approx 21mm
 Spine - Approx 65mm
Lollipop stick Toe - Approx 31mm

Looking at when the bat was made, the link with Puma and the shape of the bat does anyone know if it's the work of Julian Millichamp?

Looking at the shape most definitely looks a millichamp. Been told he made lots of bats for the Aussies in that era and I'm sure that's right.
Be very tempted to hang onto that bat, sadly Julian has not been well and many think he is the worlds best.

				Looks a cracker mate

-
that's a proper bat. No mucking around with big edges, just make the middle as wide and long as possible!

-
Loving that profile,  who needs massive edge sizes with a full profile like that!

-
The top of the handle more than anything is what confirms it for me

-
Now that is a serious bat Andy! Do you intend to use it or is it more for nostalgia?

Would be great to see it a long side a modern profile

What is it in the handle that gives it away for you Jake?

To be honest I'm not sure what I'll do with it?  Got the chance to purchase it so I did as it's rare to get the chance to buy an unused bat that's over ten years old.  I also had a feeling it could be a Julian Millichamp, more due to the shape than anything, but I wasn't sure.

I would never use it.  It'll either be kept by myself for nostalgia, or moved on to someone else who perhaps would appreciate more than me?  Who knows?

I have always wanted a Millichamp for my collection, but to be honest had visioned a Screaming Cat which we all know are like hens teeth!

Every Julian made bat I've seen has 2 springs in the handle rather than 3. It's not exactly a hard and fast rule and I've seen only about 10 or so, but every other top end bat you see tends to have 3.

Julian's obviously felt 2 was enough, or possibly better, I'm speculating of course. I'm sure his thoughts on the subject are recorded somewhere
-
Both Scats I've owned have had 2 Spring handles 👍

-
First bat I make, will look identical to that
 Perfect profile

Yeah,  seems like the old fashioned profiles are coming back into vogue with smaller edges and big spines.
-
The rounded toe is heavenly, nice buy!

-
That profile just reminds me of a toblerone

-
@Andythomo21 are you selling this bat also?.

-
@mcgill123 to be honest not really decided what to do with it yet?  May keep as a nice bit of memorabilia or may sell if there's anyone really keen to add it to their collection .

-
				Ok, thanks for the reply.

You can always contact  Julian and he will let you know, as I picked up an old used Puma bat that he made from e bay a couple of years back and the two spring handle is normally made by him. And reading Gillies autobiography he states in it Gilly made most of his bats.

Just curious,  what's the theory behind the lollipop toe?
