Title: Youth Sized Softs
Post by: Cin88 on February 28, 2016, 04:55:54 PM
I find myself needing new pads and gloves after using the same set for the last 7 years (flying completely in the face of established forum practice here). The problem I have is that because I have tiny hands and legs, I have to used youth sized softs which tend not to be offered in higher range gear. Has anyone got any ideas with regards to the best youth sized pads and gloves out of this year's range? Gloves wise I prefer split finger over sausage finger.

Cool, the Youth are made to the same spec as the men's models so there are no shortcuts in terms of quality or protection.

I use youth gloves and I have a set of the affinity gloves. They are very flexible and comfortable and excellent protection too.

My son uses the UZi Sports softs and they are excellent quality. He prefers the Uzi green as they are lighter (pads) but their is also a "pro" range.

Not cheap (in fact expensive :()  but the Salix ones are pretty impressive and made to the same standard as their adult stuff.

In fairness I would say that a lot of the youth stuff (as opposed to boys) from reputable makers  is pretty good. You just have to decide what you like the look of and how much you want to pay.

My B&S pads are brilliant. I have Salix, puma, affinity, kippax, GM, SS gloves, all youth size. I particularly like the affinity and Puma ones as I find them the best qualiy and most supple out of the packet. I have found the rubber thumb bit a bit small on the Salix gloves so I swapped it with a larger one I had from an old pair of gloves.
