I don't think i am brave enough to open up the gaps and fill with glue. I am planning to run down the slightly diluted glue, make sure all gaps are filled , let it dry, cleanup again and then apply the face sheet.
Anything else you guys recommend ?

I tend to leave delamination on the edge unless it's easy to get into. The middle I will try to fix if I've found it's detrimental to performance. From what I've experienced, delamination is easy to tuck into with a fine knife when it gets to the point that it is detrimental to performance! If it's still responding ridiculously, there's no reason to repair imo. :)

apologies for my ignorance but what is de-lamination??

When the harder face comes away/separates from the softer wood underneath giving a hollowing sound.
Usually you can push the area inwards too and may get a double sound like a clapper

If I did anything to that I'd get a syringe in there and pack the area with some glue, but I can't see it being necessary here.
To me that looks more like surface cracking than delimitation, and being on the edge it won't effect performance anyway.
Sand it down to all one colour with a lower grade of sandpaper, then work up the grades so its a nice smooth finish, then get a scuff sheet on there, job done :)
