Looking for a new bat but can't make my mind up. Had used SS for few years then went to SF black edition which was great. For this season I am not sure what to get and I have added GN and H4L in the list.
I have looked into GN and H4L custom made but not sure which one to go for. I want a lightweight bat around 2.8. I am sure one of Gray Nicolls or H4L can do a 2.8 with less concaving if it's pro willow as they are low density clefts.
What you guys think out of the 2 or shall I just get a SS reserve edition.

There is no comparison between the Grey Nics custom Omega and my H4L custom! The H4L is far superior, the grey nics is a smaller bat for the weight, looks a lot lower grade and the performance is nowhere near the H4L. I also have a very nice Oblivion custom which is a gun but don't feel that it's on to my H4L customs or even the Pros I've got for value for money

I second this I got a custom made maverick witch is a very nice bat but my two h4l custom bats are both guns can't believe how well they ping Matt bats this year are very special indeed well worth the visit if you can make it down to Kent

If you liked the sf you had before get another one

if you're spending that much SS reserves look great value as I think they're a little bit cheaper than the rest you've listed and some of the ones I've seen from @VKS look outstanding.

I'm also very very happy with my H4L custom though, picks up ridiculously well for 2.11 & 1/2.

I find that the Australian GNs play much better than the UK ones, the 2 I have are as good as any bats I have ever used, including SS, though I haven't got around to H4L yet, so that comparison is beyond me. Just thought it might be worth thinking of an Aussie GN custom.

I've not had a hit with an SF, so cannot comment on those. The only one I've seen in the flesh was a black edition that belonged to SimonMay, and it was a serious bit of wood. It was very big for the weight, with a silly number of grains if I remember correctly.
I went through a phase of using SS last year and liked their bats a lot. It was more to to with me than the bat, but I spent a lot of time gluing the toe on one of them. If you go for an SS, I'd suggest you get a full shaped one. It's almost guaranteed to be a pinger (and the ones I had all picked up well for their size and shape).
Gray Nicolls I had a thing for, then quickly fell out of love. I was probably just unlucky, but things like this happening are enough to out me off their gears.

Lastly H4L. The brand I'm using this season. Just look at the reviews they get on here and it tells you all you need to know. Here are my two ;)

I know which one I'd pick, but my vote may be slightly bias...

Thanks guys. Appreciate the help and info about these bats.

Just a quick 1 mate. I'm also using h4l bat this season and so far all I have is positives 2-12 picks up lovely seems to come off very nicely considering it's only had a few hours on the mallet and a couple of throws downs. In my opinion these bats are great and you wouldn't be going wrong spending your cash on any of their range. If you need a hand with anything I found jake from vitas to be a brilliant help. Give him a shout he's on here somewhere

@WalkingWicket37 abit harsh on gray nics not saying the supernova was second hand and already damaged on that area before you broke it.
My gray nics and my h4l.

In this case grays over the h4l! The Warner kaboom is a beast(and backs up the aforementioned aus grays being better theory)

Spoilt for choice at the moment with willow, there's some lovely bats out there
I've not used ss or sf, but have tapped up quite a few,and most have been excellent , I'm also a big fan of Bas and ca bats.
As far as gray nics goes, hmm not sure, I've seen lots of nice ones, but they seem to be a bit harder to find a really good one, I'm sure vitas or Uzi could sort you a special one out
Paul aldred would make you a stunning custom bat
I'm another h4l convert this year, and can't wait for the season to start because of it
I think matts products are world class and are finally getting the appreciation they deserve, hence the rave reviews
Sourcing his own willow as opposed to working with whatever wrights are willing to supply has obvious benefits in the quality of bats he can produce
And his custom range uses only the very best clefts
-
Not seen many light H4L - are they available in 2.8?
-
My two devils are 2.9 so I'm sure matt could sort a huge custom for 2.8
-
I think the pics say it all.
