Hello guys,
my 2012 gray nicks legend pads has just about gave up on me during pre season, they're are tears showing and splits on the buckles and where the pad meets the foot. Not bad to say they're 4 years old and have been used in Australia, South Africa and England.
I am looking for a cheaper pair preferably from a smaller manufacturer as I have found a lot of independant stuff good quality and cost a fraction of a big named brands price. I will be playing top level uni cricket and county premier league when the season starts so looking for a sturdy pad. Also if possible I like the pad to cover more of the outside part of my leg when facing the bowler abit like the old kookaburra where they had a extra Insert on the outside pad so covers more of the outside leg
Does anyone have any companies to check out or any experience using independent brands pads, if you could give me some info I would appreciate it.
Thanks :)

unlike bats, I don't think there is any advantage in purchasing "independent" manufactures, as they don't make their own softs.
My understanding is that there is only a few factories which make all softs, so the big and small brands are purchase from the same.
I hope I'm wrong.
I have a personal like for the SS softs and can be had a good price direct from india.

The Phantom pads we have in have extra wide side wings, so I think they would be very suitable!
Wider side protection, an independent company, a shorter top hat for better ergonomic fit - I think you'd be on to a winner!

Where/Who can you get them from to get direct from India?
Thanks

Take a look at our VKS branded pads which start with the Superlite II model at £39.99 and also include the Ultra Series which had the wide side bolster and is only £44.99.
I think you'd struggle to find pads that have anywhere near the same quality and specs for the money. All are shown on our website as well as being on display at our store in London.

Some guys I play with rave about the sf pads so I took the plunge and bagged a pair for £40 which isn't bad I don't think
