Title: Baselayers
Post by: dannyhall04 on March 08, 2016, 04:01:30 PM
What's the deal? Looking for something for under my shirt as I hate the itchiness/irritation feeling, but never encountered a comfy baselayer either. Also not chucking £50-60 at Skins

Theres the issue ;)

Skins are the best i've ever worn. A decent affordable option is sub sports, i bought mine on ebay a couple of years ago now, so things may have changed.

Seconded on sub sports, think I originally heard of them via a Jake post on a similar thread (cheers mate) and they're decent stuff for cheap prices. Cheapest place to get them is Amazon I've found, seem to be pretty routinely half price on there for the shorts anyway.

Is the trick to stick to the size you wear normally, or size up for a better fit?

Skins is best I have ever worn.

The black one which I wear is 4 years old and it's still strong. SportsDirect has some on good price;

Last year I bought brand new UnderArmour which after a season (12 games) got little loose and colour got stained.

Canterbury are also good.

Well I mostly use skins as they are the best imo.
I have a few ihsan baselayers they are good and cheap I can't remember exactly but I think I paid him £3 a piece (took 3) they only issue is that the ends of the sleeves got loose.

Well depends on your preference I think, some people like the "second skin" feel while others like it a little loose. I personally stick to the size guides

Good option for the 2016 season would be the new Kookaburra baselayers which are available for less than £25.

I've had lots of different base layers in the past, mostly for playing hockey. Skins are really good. It does all depend what function you want. If it is compression you want you are probably going to have to spend some money.

If it is just to stop your playing shirt irritating you get something cheap. I find most base layers will ride up if you go for the same size as your normal t shirts etc. which isn't ideal if you are batting or keeping. I got an XL (I'm a large) GN base layer which does the job and also never rides up when I'm playing.

Just to add on, I am looking for something that keeps me cool during hot and humid weather. Will the under armour heat gear work for that?

No matter what the marketing says, wearing extra layers of clothing will not make you cool down!

It helps you keep cool, doesn't cool you down.

I have under armour heat and cold gear. You can tell when you put the wrong one on.

I find the tops that are meant to keep you cool don't keep you cool like air conditioning but they don't let you get really hot. I made the mistake of accidentally wearing one in winter and froze to death, well nearly.

The other thing to mention is to look after them when washing. Don't put them in at 40C and then the tumble dryer.

I have the adidas tech fit base layers and love them, haven't tried skins, have subsport and they are ok, also have CYK from off this forum and they are good.
