Title: The Dummer Cricket Centre
Post by: Percy on March 10, 2016, 08:45:09 AM
Hi - looking for some advice.

The family are going to be staying in Hampshire for the first week in April and am looking for something to keep my son (and me!) amused. Does anyone have any experience with the Dummer Cricket Centre if so what are your thoughts on it  and is there a particular coach you would recommend for a pretty able 15 year old opening bat. Any other recommendations grateful received.

Cheers

There is Chase cricket next door where they make bats which could be worth a visit.
Dummer has a shop so plenty to look round. There is also a bar there but depends what time of day as to whether it's open or not.
I would go for Ollie (Steve Oliphant) as he is such a nice guy and has the perfect temperament for coaching both adults and kids.
The other coach I know down there is Richard Hindley who is also excellent! Both are level 3 and worth seeing!

I would endorse this - excellent centre with great facilities and shops on site.

The surface is a little bouncy, but that shouldn't matter for some coaching sessions. The coaching I have witnessed down there for the youngsters has been excellent.

@FattusCattus and @petehosk- many thanks for the update. I will give them a call and see what can be arranged.

As an opening bat - it is good for practising the short ball...

Especially as the ball was only going 25mph! That's how bouncy it is!  ;)

we love it at Dummer!

I wouldn't say it's bouncy but someone had written in chalk on a length 'PERTH Circa 1976 JThompson'

 :) :)
