Hi everyone. Just signed up to this forum because I'm looking at getting back into playing at the age of 29 after about a 10 year layoff! Got back into it last year with my work team at York Uni and really enjoyed playing again, so now looking for a team in York that I could maybe just go along and net with at first?
I live right near York train station but don't have a car, so the team would have to be pretty central or within biking distance of the city. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help.

Unless you played for Smith & Nephew last year, I invite you to come along to our club's nets (Rufforth) this Sunday afternoon (5pm - 6pm) around 100 yards away (ok perhaps 250 yards then) from where you live. They are at the Mount School off Tadcaster Road.
However the nearest physical club to where you live is Ovington who play on the Knavesmire. A bit further down Tadcaster Road is Dringhouses.

Hi John
Heworth are a good option. 4 Saturday teams, a couple of Wednesday night teams, two pitches and a nice clubhouse/bar.
We net on Tuesday's, 7-8pm at Fulford school.
More than welcome to come along and see what we are like.
My number is 07841464157 if you want to chat more?
It's only a short bike ride from the city centre, good bus route, it's even walkable in about 20-30 minutes from the station.

My mate plays for York civil service.
Can't comment on normal standard but there a good laugh when we play them in a friendly every year.

No I played for the Biology team (beat Smith & Nephew to the Tin Pot Trophy in the final game last year ;-) ). Is there some kind of link between Smith & Nephew and Rufforth?
I'm running a 10k on Sunday afternoon so probably won't be able to make this weekend. Do you do it every weekend? If so I'll definitely come along one weekend, cheers for the invite!

Thanks for the reply Joel, are you the guy I emailed about fixing a broken bat yesterday?!
I work at York uni so I will definitely pop along to a net session as it's almost on my route home from work. Although I think it will be more a case of you seeing what I'm like after all those years of not playing!

Ha ha. Is that you? Yeah. That was me.
We have a good range of standards.
Our first team in the Premier League (one below yorkshire league) and go through to our 4th team in the bottom division, so a good spread of teams.
I'll drop you another email about that bat and more about the club.
