Hey guys
My knowledge of cricket bats is very limited so bear with me if you can!
I have recently bought a Puma Evopower 1 White Edition bat in Small Mans/Academy size. I am having problems with it which I hope you guys can help me with.
Here are some pictures of it.

My worries with it is that the spine and sweet spot do not look like they are in the middle of the bat, as well as that the two sides look quite different from each other. You can see the spine/bulge is well more to the right than the left and the right side looks larger while the left looks more scalloped (probably due to the bulge not being in the middle.) This bat is meant to have a "thick players profile and Grade One, English Willow."
Are these problems fine? Or do they effect the bat. I can get more photos if need be.

You're right to be concerned I would not be happy if that was my bat! That spine is on the right wonk judging from the photos. I have no idea if it has any great detrimental effect to be honest but I wouldn't accept it in that condition, it would be going straight back. Can i ask where you got this bat from?

In my world that would be a return immediately! Looks very much off center!

How was that even allowed out of the factory?!
-
Is the handle centred as it looks like one edge has been shaved off to me.

All you have is a badly made bat.will it ha e any affect? Don't know but if it's brand new me personally that would be going back to the shop for a refund or exchange for something else
Pretty sure the Pumas are mass produced so you have just been unlucky
-
bloody hell, agree that it looks like the left side of the bat has been lowered/shaved, either that is some weird new version of the thicker inside edge for left or right handed that some companies used to do, or it is a factory failure - either a lot of money back i.e. 90% or a full refund/apology and plenty of store credit - a disgrace if you brought that from a shop and if a real Puma - terrible quality control
-
Thanks for the replies. I am now getting in touch with them about a refund which is a real shame as our season here in New Zealand has just finished and this was the last model I could find in this size.

It's a well known store here and I won't name it just yet, will see how the return goes.

Here is a picture of the handle if it helps.

It's a rare issue. Bat maker has one arm longer than the other and really bad astigmatism

And his workshop is on a steep hill

What's I think has happened is when the bat maker cut the cleft his setting were out hence the spine offset he then tried to retain the convex back of the bat by leaving each side uneven as to remove more wood would have left thin edges he could have concaved the bat to even the sides but the shape for the model would have been wrong
-
I'd say the shape for the model is very wrong as it is!

So basically, it's a bodge job?
Surely a concaved bat with a central spine is better than what they have ended up making...

Happy to say that I will be given a refund or a replacement bat. Feeling a little put off about Puma so might be looking for a new bat around $400-450 NZD (including shipping and extras) so around 200 pounds. Would anyone have any recommendations? Looking for a short handle with a full profile, weight 2.7-2.10 with a mid middle. I believe my options are limited living in New Zealand.

Not sure of shipping costs from UK but 3 I would recommend are B&S & H4L both produce cracking bats at around the £200 mark but you will have to add shipping. Retailer wise speak to jake @Vitas Cricket he will have something in any price point and has a large selection

I can make something to your specs for within budget. Drop me a pm to discuss if you're interested
