Can anyone explain why Indian had to forfeit?

From this I assume the title should be deaf match, not death match...
It's suddenly a lot less interesting  :-[

I belief an Indian was found to be wearing a hearing aid so England got first choice of weapons for the death match. India didn't stand a chance really.
