Title: Shades
Post by: dannyhall04 on March 14, 2016, 10:43:15 PM
Looking for some new, good-looking and decent shades that don't cost millions. Any good/bad experiences out there? Cheers

I love my oakleys, not cheap but worth it.

Have ended up with a spare pair of wiretap that I think I will put in the for sale section, but never know how much to put them on for.

Have also used Sunwise Windrush, excellent value and have different lenses.

I've used woodworm ones for many years. Have had a few different styles Ave always loved them. Also quite cheap.

Had woodworm shades which were excellent value for money. For the last couple of matches last season, I just wore my wayfarers as someone decided to borrow my shades without telling me! I think I paid £20 for two pairs of woodworm from the bay of e

About a fiver.

I'd always say Oakleys will be my first choice, with certain lenses.

Otherwise the Woodworms are ok and very cheap. The sunwise have heard to be good too.

Sunwise are always a good shout. Lenses are polycarbonate so should be shatter proof too.

Oakleys are my first choice - but because of the kids I use bloc sunglasses now - they are cheap and their polarised lenses are pretty good.

Local retailer with lowest prices I've found. Good service and reliable. https://www.igero.com (https://www.igero.com)

Always Oakley for me for sport, and you can get some decent prices if you shop around, but decent is merely a point of view! Currently shopping around for new ones so my bookmarks tab is loaded.

I did buy from Aspex a few years ago and they were pretty good, came with 4 sets of lenses and were super light. Only £25 at the time too.

Also, this is why I love Oakley (2:16-2:35 but I've linked it with the time stamp)... https://youtu.be/JXFj4dDWc6A?t=136

I've always used Oakley expensive as they are, but I have noticed some of the England women's team using these:

anyone tried them?

Oakley's are up there with the best but then they are rather pricey too.

Good alternatives would be the Sunwise models, as well as a soon to be released range from Blitz with prices ranging from £25 to £65.

I bought the Dirty Dog Vendetta a couple of years ago and really like them but haven't tried any of the sports ones.

I've read a few things recently, Derek Pringle especially, that are dead against the use of sunglasses, mainly in the slips and for keepers.

Does anyone notice a difference?

I tend to use Oakleys but mainly with the yellow lenses when the light is dull.

I spoke to an eye surgeon about this and he said that the wearing of glasses will refract your image - in the way that water does - what this means is that you could go for a catch and your eyes will tell you one thing and your instincts another - so unless you practice only with your shades on then you could be more likely to drop the catch. He did say it was minimal however.

When I field in the slips I don't wear sunglasses and I believe I have a better success rate with them on - which could be entirely coincidental - or entirely in my mind!!

I don't wear sunglasses in the slips, I feel that I see it better without them on. As soon as I'm in the outfield though, where's there more chance of being blinded looking up, I have them on.

I mainly wear them to look like a **** though obviously.

Ive had oakleys for cycling and theyre a dream. Hydrophobic lenses clear off any water/sweat/steam instantly which is a major plus! Wouldnt use any other brand for any sport.

I know they are fairly expensive but I would say that in the long run a pair of Oakely's will be your best bet. I've currently got 2 pairs of Radars, a pair of Radarlocks (currently my most active pair), a pair of Fastjackets and 2 pairs of Holbrooks for casual wear. My oldest pair are coming up for their 7th season and are still going strong as they were my main pair for 3 seasons in a row. Yes they are expensive but the suability is fantastic and the pure quality is superior and worth the money on my opinion. My advice would be if you are going to the USA or a friend is any time soon then get them from an Oakley Store or Oakley vault in America as they are a lot cheaper than the UK as they just switch the currency symbols from dollars to pounds for the UK. Also in the Oakley vault they often have promotions where if you buy one pair you can get a second pair from the sale section for half price. If you have any further questions let me know and I'll help with what I can  :)
