Like it says in the title really - was looking around this afternoon and it seems like none of the major manufacturer now do long blades - or long handles for that matter - in any of their ranges.
WTF?
-
Horrific isnt it?! I always struggle to find one
-
Kookaburra were the only brand I ever had any luck getting hold of LB, don't know if they still do them?

I have 3 guys on my team that exclusively play LB, and they've been buying off the shelf regularly. Have had guys pick up a couple of CA's and BAS bats in the last few months.

Kookaburra have certain models available in Long Blade, such as the Kahuna 650.
Gray- Nicolls have some 4 Star models available in Long Handle, like the Powerbow 4 Star.
GM are available in Long Handles - again certain models.
We have all of the above in stock as we as Ton Reserve Edition, Gold Edition, Silver Edition, Vertu and the Master 7000.
We also usually stock the Hunts County Caerelux in a Long Blade, but this is currently out of stock, but due soon.

I know they exsist but not having a vast choice is disappointing

As is having it limited to lower range models. For years I got GN bats just fine, now....nada
-
We do long blades on request I have a Fireflight in stock

I think its the same for SSH.
-
Gray nicolls over here in Australia do LB in the top models too.
-
I've got a couple of kookaburra long blades
-
Funny the different markets, here in Australia we get a large range of long blades from all brands, their popularity seems to grow each season.
-
Lomg blades with SSH?

Lomg blades with SSH?
They definitely must be rare.
I was just referring to the normal SSH size... definitely not such a common "stocked" size
-

I think SSH is also called Small Mens by some brands.
@simonmay5 has a lovely Kookaburra Kahuna Pro that is in Small Mens, and the blade is full size. In fact, the only difference between that and a Short Handle is about 2cm off the top of the handle (oh, and about £200 off the price...)

your the second person to mention a kahuna pro in SSH to me int he last 2 days. the other was a forum sponsor who has a track record of selecting get bats.

Cam whats the dofcerence between thwm and academy sized then?
-
No idea to be honest with you Woody, you're better off asking either Simon who owns it or someone who seeks them for a living :)
-
The small mens kookaburra was from us, we have another just like it.
The difference when it comes to small mens, academy, womens, etc etc is usually overall size but also weight (ive seen them anywhere between 2'2 and 2'10)
Sometimes the blades are narrower too, but this varies by manufacturer.
Long blades we don't hold a great deal in stock but can easily get them from Kookaburra, we would provide them as an off the shelf option for Focus if we felt the demand was there. Our experience is in the grand scheme of things there very few long blade users and they tend to expect to have to go bespoke/semi bespoke anyway, which i suppose only encourages the retailer/batmaker to hold less off the shelf stock.
In terms of long blades, aside from Kook off the shelf we have sold LB bats from the following brands over the years B&S, H4L, GN, Hunts and TON

How much would a long blade warbird cost from you Jake?

Same as a normal warbird in the 3 grade options. :)
obviously it's not a warbird in the truest sense as the shorter blade is gone, but the counter balance and duckbill are still present
