The forum is alive! Since its been down I've purchased a few things I didn't need and even enquired about a new car, withdraw symptoms make you do funny things!
To fill the void left by the lack of CBF, a few of us (myself, @simonmay5, @petehosk & @Northern monkey) went to Swindon to visit Uzi Sports.
We were greeted by Asad and Uzi, both of whom did everything in their power to make us feel welcom. To those of you who have never been to Uzi Sports, just do it. Words simply do not do the place justice. I have never see so many bats in one place before!
There were some unbelievable bats on display, personal highlights being the H4L monsters, some of the piggies the CAs I have ever seen and a lovely Newbery GT with the Cadbury stickers.
Sadly we weren't allowed to use a ball to Ping test the bats, Asad had a rather large repair bill for the damaged ceiling after Simon did this at his Birmingham store and didn't want a repeat performance! ;)
Anyway, enough waffle, it's time for the pictures to do the talking. I didn't get any pictures of half the stuff downstairs or take any upstairs, so these don't do the shop justice really.

I was very sensible and didn't buy anything I didn't "need"
I left with 2 pairs of horizon test socks, 2 pairs of asics sweat bands, an aero box and a packet of variable bounce balls for the club coach.

Oh yeah, and a New Balance DC580+ bat, but that's for a different topic! ;)

We have the following 2 NB bats left at fantastic price, both 2.10. In my view the shape is better than the one produced this year.
can't buy better bat than these for the price

Is it just me that doesnt like the duck bill shape? I see too many people toe ending ball, especially myself! I'd rather more wood at the tow than at the shoulders
-
A lot of professional people are using duck bill shape now a days

True, they both ping well, one on left has about 10 grains

I'll tell our Bermudan international player you said hello next time he plays club cricket...
I'm sure Ryan Duffied was playing Southern Electric Premier League last season too, I know you don't like T20 but I'm sure playing in the Big Bash does make you a pro ;)

Is that really a 2lb 5oz monster on the scales?
-
i think the bat was too heavy (3.0lb) , broke our scales.
i am only joking, the actual weight is 3.0 lb

I think it was the 2lb15.5 one and we wedged the handle so it was 10lb lighter (we went for that weight so we remembered the actual weight when someone noticed the picture) :D

it does pick up like 2.5 :)

To anyone who hasn't picked ap a H4L monster this is a good indicator of the pick up.
None of them "feel" anything like their dead weight (which would be like trying to use a railway sleeper on a bit scaffold pole!
That said they aren't tools for precision, and the field may drop when the opposition see you come out to bat with one

I cannot go near this place for the good of my bank balance.
I would spend 000s on kit I do not need.
Still so tempting!

Who? Big names I'm sure. Ok, barring the odd player here and there if you want to be overly picky. Can't see joe root, cook etc turning out for a club side regularly.. Maybe rank avg pros who are 'on the books' but nowhere near regulars maybe (or kids breaking in).
-
Midweek I've played against hayamun farhat, who played a few tests for Pakistan.
Joe root at collegiate.
And janosh Rhonda who played in the champions league t20.
All straight up amateurs.......
-
I faced Vikas Tokas (Delhi bowler, just signed for RCB in the IPL) and Waqar Ahmed (400+ 1st Class Wickets in Pakistan).
Both could play Home Counties Prem. I wouldn't call them bang average pro's but they turned out every week for their respective sides in the TVCL Div 2!
Though bloody glad Tokas is playing for RCB and not club cricket here this season as his parting words to me last year when I hit him back over his head for 2 x 4s last season was "see you next year..." then some not very nice words...
Anyway... Back to topic!
