Title: Music
Post by: Woodyspin on March 28, 2016, 12:03:19 PM
Right so as i was listening to multiple different playlists on Spotify and reading the threads on here at the same time, it got me thinking...

When we net outside my friends and I like to have a bit of music on in the background just to break up the silence.. I enjoy a bit of Etherwood, if you haven't heard them I strongly recommend them if you want to cool down at the gym or after a session, especially their remix of Jess Mills' - For My Sins!

What music if any gets you pumped up or focused for a game?

My plan is to make a huge CBF Playlist on Spotify for people to follow if they wish.

Its wrong on so many levels but the year my side only lost one game, we used to play right said fred-im to sexy, followed by gay bar, then jump around before we leave the changing rooms!
Only game we lost we didn't play the tunes

Massive Etherwood and Hospital Records fan!

Never listened to music when playing cricket except when when play our clubs 6's tournament with music after boundaries and wickets.

Wasn't really a during a game thing but during training or before a game (the drive there).

This year we are having a weekly playlist for the warm up and in the changing room. Bit like X factor- there will be a Queen week, Michael Jackson week but the highlight will be the dodgy 90s week!

Netsky before any sport gets me pretty pumped up! Rio especially.

Music that gets me pumped up and focused is:
Chin music from the bowler as the ball whises past my nose.

Agreed! the key word was "dodgy".. looking for spice girls, backstreet boys, B*Witched and of course... Auqa!

But was an education for some of the younger members of the side!

Not fussy what's playing in the changing rooms. I get my Zen moment while stretching before we take the field.

On the way to a game I play this. I like the way it builds up from the Specials (26mins 40secs in) to Motorhead and beyond.

Anyone into going out dancing in London might be interested to know that the Bussey Building in Peckham was once a cricket bat factory. True.

No it's an aftershave, get with the programme Cat!

Sorry, I just realised this thread was about music as preparation for a game. Going out dancing all night is probably not the best preparation.

Really? We have loads who do exactly that on a Friday night.
It's not unknown for people to get home at 4am, then turn up on Saturday morning either hungover or still drunk...

I think the Bussey Building is more of an ecstasy pill type of establishment, if I'm allowed to say that.

It was the reason I gave up cricket for 15+ years. That and not being very good.

or sitting on the mower cutting the outfield!

I'm going to Liverpool Sound City this year to see Catfish and the bottlemen, Kendal Calling to see Noel Gallagher and I'm also going seeing OCS in Leeds. I'm gutted though to be missing 3 weekends of cricket... When my two loves collide :(

I'd be gutted if I was missing cricket for Noel Gallagher. ;)

Haha we had to stop a game once because a woman decided to walk right across the pitch and the wicket! She walked so slowly we had to ask her to move on quicker (politely may i add) and she flipped out on us screaming at the top of her voice... Was so weird!

There are nearly as many music festivals as there are cricket brands now.

Should have let her sit on the roller for a couple of hours.

Hmm... this all sounds very different from what a few of us at my old club would always put on in the car on the way to away games - mixture of early 2000s rock/metal and Wu Tang Clan.

These days the lad with the iPod in the changing rooms always puts on crap dance music, gets everyone out the changing room to warm up so I guess it works!

Yes yes and yes!! That's my kind of music!!

@northernboy1987 Skindred is fav at the moment, its reggae metal which doesn't sound like it should work but my god it does!! Really energetic and bouncey, and hands down the best live band ive seen for an added bonus :)

@edge I missed them last year to but wasn't too bothered cos I saw 5 finger death punch later on in the month. But with a the terror attacks in Paris, a few of the support acts dropped out and Skindred were roped in to support a day or 2 before the gig!! I almost burst with excitement :D

I drive to every game with AC/DC's Back In Black on. I find it perfect to get me up for the game, Shoot to Thrill and Have A Drink On Me being two favourites.
