Quick question...
If you were going to get a bat made by a smaller Indian brand which one would it be?
(so not SS, SG or Sondi)

RNS Larson without a doubt.
Though would give some thought to BDM.
-
As you didn't refer to them as a bigger brand can I say BAS? :D
If that's not a small brand Larson's (still too big?) or Anthem Sports would get my money.
-
I have a very positive experience with BDM. The customer service was excellent and I ended up receiving a top quality bat.

Ransom

Rs Robinsons a certain member on hear @Northern monkey has a very special one

I'll 2nd this, I have had a strange affinity towards this bat since I tapped it up. It really is a lovely stick

Robinsons stickers or was it a sticker up job? I don't think I know of any BAS, BDM or Robinsons sticker ups, so I don't know if I've seen any Robinsons in flesh, but BAS, BDM and Robinsons are all good shouts. I think @i12breakfree had a gorgeous Tendulkar RS one, which is probably one of the best look bats I've seen on here. Out of the ones I've actually seen in flesh, BAS would probably be my 1st choice, although if they had a jig set up, then they'd definitely be my go to brand!

I won't say what stickers it had on it mate but it is a stickerd up Robinson bat and I rate it as one of the best performing bats I have had the pleasure to use
-
RS indeed for me lately, they are doing some great work. I was surprised by how dry the BAS i had was considering its a new model, maybe just an exception to the rule but has cracked all over the face and its not "opening up" type cracks...
-
RS bats for sure . their finishing and pressing is top quality.
The RNS I received is also special .

knowing him personally, his bats are class apart.
-
RNS! Friend of mine is sponsored by them so have seen some of the quality they turn out
-
Having had a few Robinsons bats in the past I would certainly recommend them - I had maybe 4/5 when first starting Neon up as samples and to be fair they were all exceptional, both in performance and the quality of the grain structure/finishing. I went down the UK made route in the end but I wouldn't hesitate buying one for myself in future!
-
I had a £30 ebay bought BDM once and its one of the best bats I ever used. Last quite a few seasons to before I finally retired it
-
I'd go for an M&H. Luckily for me they have a small outlet here in Taunton. Sweet.
-
BAS for me, closely followed by Robinsons, although there are other very good brands as well!
My choice is based on experience of bats I have tried. So I am sure that there are a few that I haven't tried that are also excellent!
-
Robinsons are ok I was terribly disappointed with pintu when I got one it was dreadful.
Bas I have used from Asad years ago was on it was out but a good un.
Anthem sports do nice bats too not forgetting Protos
-
BAS haven't yet seen a bad one.
-
Seen 2 SF's this winter so gone for a Black Edition myself. All seem to be very good.
-
Thanks everyone.
Seems as if I would have an affinity to a Robinsons bat.
BAS might be a bit of a good jig.
I would be nailed on to get a SF bat.
I haven't sung and Anthem since my voice broke
Which leaves Larsons by no means least.
-
Have you been on the sherry again?
-
again i didn't think BAS was in small brands range.
BAS bats are very well pressed ..they are expensive that all other indian brands though
and again i do believe lot of these companies make very good bats ...now the issue is with consistency
another one to ur list should be PR ;)
-
Kg do some good bats. Been to their factory and they certainly are small! Owner is a very nice guy. Spent an hour or so with me talking equipment....and I just walked in off the street!
-
Robinsons make most of the softs for the smaller UK guys including some on here!
-
Yup, robinsons highly recommended
Got a lovely 'special one' that's as good as owt out there
-
I am Big BAS guy since started playing cricket with BAS.
currently have 2 RNS's, one is 5 year till going great (Hard pressed) and another just bought this year (Soft Pressed), couldn't judge it yet.
Trying to get my hand on Robinson's, but tough to get one as per your specs when calling them is the only option.
Even KG falls in to same category, tried to contact them so many times, but to no avail. Lucky Buzz got one without asking.
-
Got to say this Bas gloves are best since sliced bread they may not last long but my god the players version is like batting without gloves there a reason many players wear em!!!!
-
Go for BDM dynamic power original/super range. Both are grade 2 willows and around 100 pound mark in India. If you plan to visit the factory do pm me I can help you in setting up a meeting with Aditya. Very friendly and helpful in selection of kind of bat you would like.
-
Ill prefer SF, they are best in India after SS and SG. BDM is awesome too with exclusive bat range.
Ill try SM Pintu, specially the top end bat, I have heard they make very nice bats.
Thrax is also a new company trying to establish with new bats in their range and cheaper too.
-
I don't have a vast knowledge of the Indian bat makers, and I am sure there are many hidden gems. That said I think it's difficult to look past BAS. I have a top of the line SS which is very fine, but still there is something different about the BAS for me.

Proceed with caution when it comes to an SM Pintu

Have Used a BDM earlier and also my team mate is BDM fan, he has about 5 BDM's with him now. One thing noticed though is that they are very soft pressed I guess. Takes ages to knock them. One complete season and still feels that the bat needs more knocking. But one bright thing is that, BDM's have the thickest handle of all the Asian mades I noticed.
No more budget any more for bats this season. Will definitely contact you next season for any BDM's. Thanks for offering help.

Thanks for heads up.
I will definitely keep the thing in mind and won't be buying the bat just cos they say it has got different technology, However my opinion is based on the actual performance of their bat I have seen my own eyes as many local cricketers uses it against us.
I know any such tech is useless and they probably just copied the tech advertisement they are boasting about from Kookaburra and never would have got the brain/capacity to actually implement it. Still the bat blade is good looking and they are cheaper.
But I have seen the performance of the bats without this tech, and they go good.

That's actually true. I have knocked BDM sixes till its face actually broke/dented a little. But still feels it can take a beating or two. Now however I feel they are late opening willows and will open up in future.
I might buy in future the BDM Power Extreme or may be Titanium or platinum. I just loved the treatment given by Aditya Mahajan. Genuinely cool guy and better than SS staff. Offered to stroke the bat 1000 times just to make the deal sweeter
But one bright thing is that, BDM's have the thickest handle of all the Asian mades I noticed.
That's true. And I used three grips just to make it more thicker and create balance

Yes their bats are a bit soft and takes time to knock them. But when getting them customized, one can give this feedback and he will ensure to get your bat extra pressed and as per your liking. More than the handle I like the bat balance and no nonsense approach to their models. Other Indian brands have a lot to offer across different range whereas BDM have few selected models which they deal in since ages. And ultimately their blades are pretty clean if you compare similar range model in different companies.

Had a BDM something 10 years or so ago..went well. But can attest that they take time opening IP.
BDM, The Game looks like a great bat.
