Hello all,
Hopefully a little less controversial than our last few interactions, I return to what the forum likes best. Lovely wood! Got our latest batch from the guys at BB (they sent us 13 SH bats and we decided to keep 7 of them), and they are stunners! We've got a variety of shapes: the B1, B2 and B4. We have 3 in 2'8 and 4 in 2'9.
Here are them all - some serious grainage!

The 2'8 ones are here -

The 2'9 ones are here -

The B1 is a shape similar to the Newbery Platinum or Affinity Carbine, with a fuller profile as you can see.

The B2 shape is similar to a Phantom Shadow or similar, with a long, low middle, spine running all the way through the toe.
(http://i930.photobucket.com/albums/ad145/thebd11/Blank%20Bats%20March%2031st%209.jpg) (http://s930.photobucket.com/user/thebd11/media/Blank%20Bats%20March%2031st%209.jpg.html)

Finally, the B4 shape has the duck bill toe that seems to be in fashion at the moment, with the pick up being exceptional as a result.

What I must say is how picky we were with these bats. I think every one of the ones we rejected would be on the shelves of many stores, we are just so incredibly picky. They are also remarkably good value for money. £284.99 for handpicked G1+ English willow these days is pretty special!
Anyway, a peace offering! Enjoy some lovely wood! If anyone wants any more details, send us a PM or email!
Thanks,

Lovely bats for sure but how is this handpicking? Didn't you decide to stop stocking GM because you would have had to do the same...get some sent in and then returned what you didn't like?

Put your pitch fork away pal!

The definition of handpicking is selecting bats for stock from a larger number. Unlike GM who send you the bats on your order, which you are expected to stock (unless maybe one or two a season aren't quite right.)
So yes, this is handpicking. It ticks those boxes. We selected a number of bats, from a larger pool, discarding the ones we didn't like.
Yes, we took a greater proportion than in some other companies (the large brands we select maybe 1 in 20 bats which we look through), but that's more a testament to Blank Bats' quality than anything else!
We would do this type of handpicking more often if we could. It saves us train fares and train time, and allows our customers to still get the guarantee of handpicked cricket bats!

I think this is a reasonable approach to handpicking and the bb bats are wonderful I have had them as my match bat for the last 4 seasons...

Like the bb1 shaped bat
That's a profile that works well, and the willow looks very nice

These TK or Nottm made?

Getting sent a batch and only keeping what you want I'd say is hand picking (unless they couldn't send all back etc). Bit picky buddy

Hi Guys,
It's Paul. I have decided to make a return to the forum, but just for this one post! I have no desire to get dragged into the other subjects that have apparently been discussed on here of late (to be honest, I haven't even read them yet nor do I intend to). Instead, I want to write about something positive.
Even though this is a one-off, it was going to take a lot to bring me back, but I feel Blank Bats are worthy of it.
Only one of these bats is now still available (a B2). The other six have all sold already. The last batch we had (of seven) sold within a week too. Safe to say that they are the flavour of the month here at IJC! It's easy to see why in my opinion. Customers who come into the store seem to always choose them, even over other more established brands. Many have never even heard of Blank Bats but they choose them regardless, such is the sheer quality for the price. They sell themselves. Everything about them: looks, pick-up, feel, mallet response, value for money is nothing short of exceptional.
I like them so much I have even decided to get one for myself (a Long Blade B4), and I even got the matching pads and gloves to boot! Might have to do another 'What's In My Kit Bag' video soon! :D
For the record, Blank Bats don't make any of the bats themselves, but they are not shy to admit this. Still, they are in control of the design process, and the service that Tai provides is top drawer - responding to all my questions within minutes, sometimes within seconds (even after 11pm at night!) and allowing us to handpick the bats in this unconventional, but incredibly convenient and time efficient manner!
In short, Blank Bats are to me what Phantom is to Chris - I just love them and it's great to see a smaller brand like this prove to be so popular in our store. Long may it continue. I am sure you will be seeing a lot more Blank Bats on the field in 2016 and beyond!
Cheers,
Paul

I have seen pictures of Paul's new bat.
Safe to say I tried to pinch it and wasn't allowed to.
