Hello all,
Just uploaded our Sl22 Boost shoes video review now. Felt like I needed to dust off my chemistry qualifications for this one - lots of technical details which we haven't seen on other reviews of the Boost!
Here it is - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpQT6ghHYzw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpQT6ghHYzw)
My shoe of choice for this year - not hard to see why when you watch the video.
In stock in most sizes now, free delivery too.

How does the sizing go on these bad boys?
Do they come up small or the correct size?
-
They come up marginally small. I use a normal 11 and fit into these in regular sports socks. Wouldn't want to wear cricket socks with them though!
-
Agree with above. Adidas generally come up 1/2 a size smaller than most: I always buy a 1/2 size bigger than my normal shoe size.
-
What happened to your trousers? Get lucky or fall over? ;)
-
The new SL22s seem very popular with the world's greatest. But I've yet to spot the Boost version on my TV?
-
Very nice - can these be used on astrotruf and mattings?

Don't think so
-
So tempted to get these, they look amazing
Haven't spotted them on TV yet either
-
Don't think so
I thought they was for use on both?
-
They really are brilliant. All of us here at IJC towers are in love.
Adidas informed us they are not for use on artificial surfaces - so we have to take their word for it! I personally think you might just get away with it but that's off the record of course!

So why are Gayle, Kohli, Buttler etc. not sharing the love?
-
They do look comfortable, just can't justify the price...
-
Oh no! There goes my chance of buying them....:(
-
Had they been duel use is probably have bought. As I like the look and idea.
And making me buy anything but NB is an achievement for a shoe company.
-

Probably for the same kind of reasons you won't see Yohan Blake/Tyson Gay/David Rudisha using Boost shoes either. Can see pros using them for training but doubt they'll ever see match use.
Spike plate is a neat idea, not buying into the Boost hype though, particularly for cricket - that much cushioning just isn't necessary on a grass surface. Be interested to see how people find the grip on a wet amateur ground! How long are the spikes @ItsJustCricket ?

We were just told they were for use on grass!

You don't think people actually read all the replies before posting do you?
-
A wet sheffield outfield still covered in wet grass cuttings is different grass from a firm first class outfield ... These would clog within minutes

Apparently not...

Crimicar lane in April.......... Can't beat it!

Erm, the T20 World Cup isn't being played in Sheffield? It would be funny if it was.
-
Hmm..the idea is actually quite compelling imo. I think Chris mentioned it's his shoe, so maybe after a few games we get another review. Let's not create a controversy before then !
-
I wasn't suggesting they weren't any good. Was simply pointing out that the pros didn't appear to be wearing them (yet?).

Yes, I saw this picture. I wasn't suggesting...

Chris Nash also using them, saw a picture on Facebook

Sam Curran's bowling shoes, anyone?
-
The Currans are both wearing a plain white version of the Adidas Vector. Anyone else seen these?

Those are the mids rather than just the normal vectors, but either way they look pretty nice
Definitely a gap in the market for all white spikes me thinks
-
I didn't think the County Championship was like the All England Lawn Tennis club where you had to wear just white while playing???
-

I remember them talking about this on TMS last summer. International regs are different from ECB if I remember correctly

But plenty of county cricketers are wearing the normal ones?
I don't think the Currans' footwear is anything to do with regulations.
-
Think Adidas are taking a punt on the Curran brothers. They did a couple of photoshoots over the winter which haven't the media yet. Could be a good investment.
-
Right then, any one had a run out in their boosts yet? I'm medium pacer- very medium. But want them for batting and time in the field.
I've not picked up a bat yet! Shop and nets tomorrow to whet my appetite for the season!!!
-
Superb for batting, fielding and slow bowling. Not suitable for anything faster than a 4 pace trundle. V V V V V Comfortable
-
Have you tried bowling faster in them or just from what you've read?
-
Not me personally but a few academt players say their front foot slips when trying to bowl quick. It's a but strange because for batting and fielding the grip is better than studs
-
Aren't they advertised as a batting/fielding shoe anyway? There's nowhere near enough support on the ankles for fast bowlers
-
Took the plunge and bought them.
I'm not a fast bowler, very medium and swing it. Bowled my usual pace in them this evening and had no issues.
Very little clogging even on long freshly cut grass.
Looking forward to using them tomorrow on an uncovered deck in the heart of Dorset
-
Guy we played against yesterday had these on. Track was pretty dry and he must have slipped about 5 times trying to take off for a single.
-
In comparison, I played on a wicket that looked like it had been shelled due to being so damp that the ball tore it up and an outfield that squelched as you walked and they held up great.
-
Not sure I'm too keen on the all white boots - quite like a bit of colour on my kit seems as the rest has to be rather white!

Wessels wearing the Boosts in the county championship match against Yorkshire
-
Would you recommend going up a half size ?
-
Deffo Canners, the do fit snugly.
I fielded in these for 45 overs, bowling 8.
My only complaint was that the insole slipped.
Initially in my landing foot, then started to happen in the right.
The thin insoles are only placed in, not stuck in like the vectors I have been used to.
Great boot.
Didn't clog, didn't slip, didn't dig up the front foot line either.

So a more than good enough to field and bat in? Was it a little wet at all?
-
No problems in the wet. V good grip

Really odd, I found my insole slipped too... never had this before, even in running shoes. Was going to put a small dab of something around the toe.

There's an ECB reg where a certain % of the visible boot has to be white.
Was listening to BBC 5LSX today and Ben and Bob as well commentating on the Kent vs Gloucestershire game were talking about coloured boots and how one of the players had boots with lots of colour in them. One of the listeners emailed in to say that the ECB reg states a minimum of 70% of the boot must be white and the rest can be any other colour. They then went on to joke about what would happen if players broke the rule and that the ECB should do random shoe checks. Another listener wrote in to say that a player/club could be fined 3000 pounds for breaking kit rules, if however the player breakes the rule again then the.fee goes up to 31000 pounds which I think is crazy.
To me the Adidas vectors seem to have more than 30% of the shoe in colour hence maybe why the Currans were wearing those boots.
