So I had my first net session of the season down at the Sussex County Ground this evening and left buzzing to play cricket!
After not getting bat on ball since August, it was really good to have a bat! (with my refurbished Kippax bat, which I think is someones on here sold on ebay last month, goes like a train. Maybe my new match bat....still have 3 other bats to net with to see their performance).
Only problem is the lack of foot movement outside off-stump moving towards the ball, but I am blaming my "Christmas Belly".
Anyone else had a net recently and buzzing for their first game?

Who do you play for mate? i've been there a few time over the winter, shame its nothing like an April pitch
-
Scaynes Hill,
I know what you mean, driving a ball at 70 mph indoor to facing a slow sticky wicket, being through the ball early and getting caught....I can see it now!
Yourself?

Ahh so you know all about Crawley Down and around there then?
I play for Forest Row so not far from there, know a few of the CD Lads and Ifield.
-
Sort of CD jumped into our 1XI league (WSCIL Div 2), was 2nd XI Captain last year so I never played them.
Our 1st XI were the only team to beat them (and they beat them twice), but didn't stop them smashing the league!
Don't think I have played at your ground....could do with a decent spinner though...... :D

First net!
We must start early here, I've just finished my last one, we are outside next week for the first games of the season
-
Most of my netting has been with fellow nerds on here.
First outdoor club net is 12th April - cannot wait, I'm one of those weirdos who loves to net!
-
I cannot believe that you are netting outdoors in 2 weeks!
Our Ground is still squishy on the outfield! Need at least 2 weeks of dry warm weather to stand a chance of the 1st league game to be playable!
-
We are men's men!
-
We sell a lot of jumpers on the day during the first few games :)
4 friendlies before the first league game on the 23rd, not long now!
-
Got a game this Sunday :) cricket starts now ..
Nets have been going since Feb for the club and since November for me and a couple of others who've put effort in
-
Been netting since Feb and we have 3 more weeks left, as we're a Sunday side I don't think midweek outdoor nets are a thing. Will hassle a few people, mind...
-
Watched my first bit of live cricket of the year this afternoon as the first class season sort of kicked off at Glos, got to wait til the 23rd/24th for a game though. Jealous of you people with matches sooner and outdoor nets to have!
-
I had a nice hour at the Oval this evening also, Tom Curran looking lively as always

Not really, watched a little of their innings but was paying more attention to the t20wc game by the time Durham were batting tbh.

No nets for us here in the USA. Straight into a couple of practice matches and first league game this Sunday (after last Sunday was rained off).
I love a good midweek outdoor net back home :(
