I'm about to eat some lasagne and start hemming up my new whites. Grumpy? Nah.
-
I see my neurosurgeon on Wednesday, should know if I'll be playing cricket in 2016 or no, I might be "slightly" grumpy Thursday!
-
im certainly happy at the moment. only down side to working at a county ground is that i wont get to play much cricket this season but given how much i am loving my job at the minute i dont mind.
first county game is next week when we host kent so im excited about it
-
I'm one moaning bell end in generally anyway(ask my boss, my work mates and my team mates)
The time of the year is if no significance to my grumpyness.

I'm grumpy now as I top edged a ball into my chin tonight! But I have rugby tomorrow and a title to try and win
-
ive been rolling the pitch and the grass nets. cutting the grass nets, cleaning and tidying after the floods. helping with the grass nets at kiddy for the 1st team to use.
getting general bits ready for the new season.
-
Winters bin shoite!
Always gets folk grumpy , the sun will make an appearance soon and signal the start of a new season.
A chance to get some lovely cherries on the top edges of all those winter bat purchases
Can't wait to get back out on the field and feel even older than I did last year ,
But I've read buzz,s batting book over and over again, so there's a good chance I might hit it off the square this year
And I've got a shed full of new bats to blame for my not winning the batting avgs again
-
And I have been too long a coporate man instead of being myself time for the old me to return I can not listen to any more shoite spoken by some at all
-
It's a forum ! The only non grumpy ones are the weed growing ones

I bet the for sale section on a weed growing forum is fun...

Tbh if this is about the IJC video thread then I've just watched the video and it was essentially a self-righteous load of tripe that denigrated people for choosing to spend there money one way over another
-
It's either the lack of cricket
People loving a bandwagon for their keyboard warrior skills
Or most likely daves fault as used to always be him causing the trouble and with him saying he is going back to the old him watch out
-
Shovel is a shovel not a spade if it a spade call it so sorry but I have spend over a year just sitting and watching some talk some right pootang
Nah your all grown up and respectable now not the young devilish carefree troublemaker I used to love
People love talking crap because their cousins nephews gold fishes sister told them it was true
Lightens my day up reading these "experts" give opinions when most don't know which end to hold
-
The ijc topic has been moved because other retailers got involved and it isn't possible to manage conflicts any other way.
If you don't like the videos don't watch them.
You have to take offense, choose to ignore it instead if you don't like it.
-

I would have to disagree. Bear in mind the forum makes up a tiny proportion of the market (a lot less than it likes to believe!), it was meant to educate people who might think that custom is the way to go.
We never once told people not to go custom - we merely gave our advice on it. I'm not sure how it was self-righteous? We didn't even ask people to shop with us - we said visit your local cricket shop, or local batmaker! Not once was it a sales video - information only?!

Glad i lighten your day mate!
It would be dull without me and the other 'experts' though... :-[

i never mentioned names as don't want to be disappeared by BUZZ and his secret crew
They scare me too much

I am about to be one of the said grumpy people. Yes there are lots of people on here that know plenty about cricket bats, there are also plenty who DO NOT!
*NAME DROP AND HUMBLE BRAG ALERT*
In addition to this, having spent some considerable time working (feeding the bowling machine/ giving throw downs) with Shiv Chanderpaul, his bats are far from off the shelf! They are SSH with LB's... the profile may look like a Gen X but good luck picking one up in any store!
If you are going to use an example/ make claims please get it right!
-
@WalkingWicket37 I am quite surprised that you didn't start these arguments tbh!
-
Get some pictures up pal would love to see them

Kez, as much as that may be true, I will respectfully have to take the word of the person who makes his bats in this case!
Besides, we used it as an example RE the profile shape and people's sometimes egotistical desire for a custom bat! Stress, sometimes!
-

Don't worry mate, when it's all settled down I'm sure I'll find a way of upsetting someone.
As IJC bashing is the in thing at the moment, has anyone got a Newbery Platinum I can borrow and give an overly critical and borderline slanderous review on please? ;)
-
Glad I missed this grumpiness today. Work has been super crazy ..
Get some beer guys and chill.
-
I think it's buzz's fault for starting topics like this
If you want to cheer people up its simple
Get fattus drunk and let him loose on him computer, all the bad feelings will melt away
-
I watched the ijc video too. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. We live in a democracy. Paul is very honest in his videos when reviewing the gear he sells. He gives a very objective and I find this very refreshing. Paul has a point, just because you don't like it, theres no need for a character assassination!

That will just be about Hair, Balls and Sacks all in the same context. I say let's do it

My big issue (not just IJC but anyone who puts things on Internet)
Why put your opinion out there if you don't want or can't handle feedback?
I see loads put photos/videos/statements of everything from cricket to favourite sexual aid then don't like it when people don't agree with there verdict
Why do it is my thought?
May just be old and grumpy
-

(That includes my posts)
We need a favourite didgeridoo or favourite shampoo kind of topic

Disagree with us sure - tbh I change my mind so much I end up disagreeing with myself. But there's a line, which some people forget.

Good work Dr.Watson.

Maybe we should start a Pitchfork and Torch thread...people here seem to have loads of those lying around.

Interesting view of customers and potential customer & given the name of the forum it's written on!!

No where it states that posters can't talk about off-the-shelf bats or criticize custom bats. Custom bats are over rated.

The difference being this isn't about the bats rather a criticism and character judgement on anyone buying a custom bat...

I see what you are saying. I read the comment quoted in red font. It doesn't apply a 100% to all the custom bat owners but there are people who fall into that "egotistical desire" category. I know a few personally. It's not entirely inaccurate.
-
I blame @smilley792 for teasing everyone with free bats on Friday, only to upset us and put it down as an april fools :(
most disappointed!!

I'll be using the kiddy nets for Worcester seniors practice.

anyone think the forum would benefit from more women?

We need women on this forum. Where are the women cricketers?
-
We need women on this forum. Where are the women cricketers?
exactly !! the womens game is flourishing, I mean it's the in thing to be female and play cricket
here's a question for you, Leonie we don't know where she went but was fantastic, I personally liked everything she posted...
of all the members on the forum so we currently have *****ANY***** that are women?
-
Women cricketers must be having their hands full in a custom handbag forum figuring out who actually makes those LV bags..
-

And there folks is why we have no woman members. Blokes get behind a keyboard and think it's funny to be sexist.
-
My good mood has broken. Against my best intentions I've just answered another thread in a pithy manner. Naughty step for me.... :)
-
Yes - make sure you don't pith everyone off! :)
-

It may have sounded like that but was directed more towards the men...people on here think a lot of who makes the bat behind the stickers and forget to appreciate good willow sometimes
-
It was @LeonieKelly18 I think
Member of the woman's cricket Dutch setup
-
There seems to be more women on here than you all give credit for.
-
It was @LeonieKelly18 I think
The remarkable thing about that name is that there were 17 Leonie Kelly's before her and we were completely oblivious to them ;)
-
I follow leonie on Twitter and have had a few conversations with her, very nice lass very in to her cricket.
Unfortunately she has had a lot of injury issues, and I do believe that at the age of a teenager she has had to retire from the game.
-

Yep and 791 smilley's before me......
-

I'm sure you didn't mean it as sexist, we do have some 'handbags at 10 paces" sometimes on the forum..I don't know who makes LV handbags in fact I would say a small English village somewhere near Somerset and sub contracted out to the sub continent :)
But....none of this answers any questions, do we need more female cricketers on here? Well yes we do...I'm going to presume we have NIL women, transgender? Hmm not sure having netted with a few recently I'm on the fence....
But seriously, the women's game is getting more popular, the men's is declining....
Maybe something to think about going forward.....
-

Is it that Elviar bloke who also makes the LV bat mallets?
-
I'm definitely not blonde nor Danish. Lol IM BACCKK
-
...

Is that really true? Even if we just look at men's cricket, are we seeing a decline worldwide? How are we measuring this growth/decline? I think it is gaining popularity worldwide and ICC is considering including more teams in men's T-20 world cup.
-
Yep and 791 smilley's before me......
Shiver at the thought of another smilley, let alone 791
-

Omg Leonie is back !!! Welcome back
How fantastic is that :) :) :)
-
Ps sorry about the Danish thing got confused ! :)
But now that you are back on can you give us your thoughts on the women's t20...impressed at rising standards in the women's game?
England are now fully professional, should we expect better results now money is being thrown at the women's game?
And is the way forward for a separate league structure for women, or women and men playing together like Sarah Taylor has in Australia?
Be great to get your view point....

HAHA I got an email telling me bunch of weird cricket fanatics mentioned me. So had to check out the rumours, you know to deny everything!
Hahaha no problem BTW.
I'm personally more a test fan due to being a spinner and hate having only 4 over's to bowl.
But it's great seeing the t20s becoming such an entertaining game for everyone. It's very different to the men's game as the men are big hitters and that's the entertainment value. Where with the women's game it's more placement and quick runs.
To be honest I personally never likes watching women's cricket but it's getting so much better and especially due to the likes of Sarah Taylor for example.
Now I myself am an ex international and I see more things from a different aspect. Such as great that England are full professional well deserved, but the gap between the top teams and the associated teams are HUGE it's no where near like the men's. (All credit to Ireland for doing a great job of joining the bigger teams)
When/if I can ever play again I'll be joining a men's team myself.
But I don't recommend doing this for every league or team. Definitely not. It's two different games. Plus let's be honest men are stronger and bowl faster. It would decrease the men's game.

Harsh.
Fair. :D
