Just seen this on Facebook.
Seems as if KP has been buying some English made bats for the IPL.....
(http://i895.photobucket.com/albums/ac151/buzzrockport/FB_IMG_1459807003170_zps8opk7ajb.jpg) (http://s895.photobucket.com/user/buzzrockport/media/FB_IMG_1459807003170_zps8opk7ajb.jpg.html)
-
I bet it was his local sports direct
-
Bet he didn't buy them either!
-
That one with heartwood on the inside edge looks perfect!
-
Thats a good bit of detective work to put them together... who would have said Hawk?
-
Is it just an illusion that some are slightly shorter in length?
-
There's been talk of hawk making his and Bell's bats for years...
-
So who's going to email hawk for a rejected pro bat ;)
-
still big into his Adidas clobber. interesting.....
-

Me there's been a connection with KP for quite sometime.
-
Yep, Hawk have made his uk bats for some time

And Bell and Broad too.

And Bell and Broad too.
I thought a certain Nottingham based maker looked after Mr Broad
-
My bat is originally a hawk, company down this way buys part made from them and shapes them here. The owner has a Bell cast off, it's a bit special
-
I thought a certain Nottingham based maker looked after Mr Broad
I was also under this impression having waved one of his bats around at said Nottingham based maker.
-
When I was at Hawk about 18 months ago, there were 3 clefts set aside with Broad's name on
-
He must be getting them from everywhere then and a load of them we dropped off loads
Last year to him
He does not knock them in either straight out of packet
Look at his handle sticker in photos !!!
Guess though like most internationals they get them from all over
-

Ah, the mystery of it all! Wouldn't life be boring if everything was out in the open :D
-
far as I know the pro's can get them from anywhere, there's gonna by some, Bell I think, who has got his bats from Hawk for ages. As long as the right sponsor stickers are on there no one cares.
Some of them get big money for sponsorship so even if they have to pay a batmaker something for one of theirs it's small change. They might even get given them who knows.
One of my ex team mates is now contracted to Kent and I saw an advertising pic of him with some lovely H4L gear the other day
that reminds me......I must contact him and ask him if he has any spares, er no, how he's getting on at Kent !!
:)
-
Must be a good life for pros can get bats from any bat maker I sure they won't be charged especially if your a England international :)
-
All non b3 sponsored players whoever they are are charged full price maybe to there management/sponsor but nobody walks away with a free bat
-

absolutely... the down side for a batmaker thou is they can't advertise the fact...the pro has to be seen with the sponsors product....
I did think it quite funny first time I went down to 'somewhere in Essex that makes fabulous bats' and on the wall was a signed photo of Nasser saying 'thanks for everything throughout my career' posted up on the wall. He was of course exclusively GN thru his career :)
I suppose he could of used their thigh pads or socks or sommat thou :) :)
-

Would love to see pros signing up on here to get the butterfly offer or something like that ha! Is that coming this year?
-
I'm not sure why people care overly though, it's not like mere mortals will get the quality of wood that the likes of kp get (I don't overly count the avg county player). The quality of wood and the care they will take over it is not comparable to the normal trade bats. I don't care what any maker says, they get the best and it's looked after better than a 170 special
-
If Adidas shelf bats are made by SS, as it has been suggested they are, then surely they ought to be able to sort their pros out with decent bats?
Has it been mentioned that Ian Bell is with Woodworm this year?
-

Disagree with this. A bat can only be so well made and willow only so good; it's a finite thing. Hawk won't be going 'KPs in town, let's take our bat-making to another level'.

Yes, there's a really long thread talking about blue stickers somewhere. It's better than it sounds.

Anyone offering a price on Test century scored with aforementioned blue stickers on display?

Nope!! I know he has split opinion on the forum(i liked watching him myself) but cannot see any way back to the test side now
Personally i dont think Hales is the answer and i believe Vince will be in the team come June
I could be wrong of course!

Having had my hands over a few Hawks, they do make nice bats but I promise you KP/Bell will be wanting something better than what Hawk sell to the public!
@ppccopener - Vince who struggled badly in first class last year? ;)
-

So what are the secret ingredients?

As an opener? Really?

he did struggle with form you are right. England have him around the set up now, I think it's a way of keeping him around the squad. He is a high class player, technique wise I do not believe unless you are exceptionally talented, let's say KP for arguments sake, that you can survive at test level. I think that is what we will see with Hales, one day T20 you can get away with it.
Bats...this is what I think England will do: Compton,Cook, Vince. Hales 50 over and T20 shoe in.
We are playing Pakistan early summer, anyone thinking their bowling is not going to make a very competitive series is deluded. Will Pak score runs against us thou? that's the question...

All I can talk about is what we do and you or customers get what the top players get and more times than not better
I know my personal bats my real gems are right up there as I picked them it just I can use them as well as the guys who play for a living or I would be there.
If I pick a cleft when people ask as well it all open and there is no pro stash at all and if there was it would be lower grade.
There not one cleft in b3 that is not open for sale to the public not one so for us yes you can have what internationals get.

Top draw Dave, as it should be

Yes he is at woodworm but no prizes for working out his batmaker.

So B3 bats must be far superior to Hawk?

May I ask how you came to that conclusion from what @procricket B3 and @ProCricketer1982 wrote ?

The boys at B3 are alleged to enjoy a puff, Kulli.

I can only go off what Dave says for b3 as I've never seen one. Hawk I've seen plenty and as stated before, it's literally 50% really good and 50% planks that they should be embarrassed to sell

eh????
Not following you but then again i never do??

Well, perhaps some of the more enlightened will enjoy the joke?

I don't care what any maker says? Unless it's B3?

Did I say I believed him? Just said 'top stuff'
-
All believe what you want i have nothing to make through lies.
At the top of the header it says "Share the Knowledge" thought i would it ok our customers understand they have top pick not the pro's.
Can only speak about what i know and i did sorry if it not good enough for you guys but thats what it is.
i have knocked in and delivered a bats to pro but hey it ok you know best haha...
Me and customers get as good as the players it not the bats it the person at the end thats the difference.
And no we do not make KP bats wish we did like :D
-
Have a bad feeling about this thread deteriorating very soon......

Top lying then?

I believe you. I'm just highlighting contradictions in what others are saying.

That happened along time ago mate.

And thereby it was decided...

It was good fun

Sponsorship

Mr Adidas pay him lots of money to put adidas stickers on his bat thats why...
-
Sorry.....i didnt realise that they can do that...surely thats false advertising?
When they show an advert with Broad holding an Addidas bat, one would assume it is Addidas and if you want to buy a Addidas bat is would be made from the same place.
Maybe i am naive .... but i am a little shocked.

Welcome to the cricket world. And prepare to be shocked further!
-
Adidas have/did have a contract with Hawk in the past for their repairs and pro bats so not a massive surprise.
It's a shame Hawk are oft forgotten about when talking about top UK batmakers.

In the advert he probably is holding an Adidas bat. When he goes out to the middle, he isn't necessarily.
So who do imagine manufactures Adidas bats, Mr Naive?

Not least because of the involvement of a certain Mr Facer?

Hawk have a contract with Adidas to make their top range bats I believe @Churchy1989

Assumed they had an Addidas work shop, but i assume most of their stuff is from India.... :(

Not even that. More what Tom says.
-

So it is actually cheaper to get one from Hawk Direct, which will be the same quality as the top make.
£175 compared to £450!

Their manufacturing is out-sourced. SS are currently thought to make their bats.

Bernie hasnt been involved for a while now he stopped due to ill health
-
Got my first ever bat from Bernie, visited his workshop in Buckden.
He was brilliant at pressing the middle out of bats...

I thought that might be the case. But he did help get the brand established and is an interesting link in the pod-shaving family tree, is he not?

In part yes he trained both Mike and Rob and worked with them for a while.
