Hi everyone,
Could see this topic anywhere, move if one is found.
I have been looking at our outfield last weekend, it appears that there is more moss than grass in certain areas of the outfield.
I do not remember this in previous seasons... are there any keen groundsman on where that can advise the best course of action to get grass growing rather than moss!
Thanks.

mate this is what our ground looks like 3 weeks before our first home game, groundsman still on holiday i think

That looks like Dry Grass Cuttings...
We have a Husky which we would put on a high setting and would suck all that up.
Our Groundsman is in Aus Still!
-
Here's ours as of about a month ago, might take stroll around before nets tomorrow now I get there when it's still kind of light

Always is, and its always the same people that help-out (then eventually not turn up as its them all the time).
I tend to book a day off in the week when the sun comes out and spend all day at the club doing ground work. Which i have to say is extremely enjoyable! unfortunately there are not many jobs for that!

the best treatment will be some a mixture of iron to kill the moss and fertiliser to bring on the grass that is already there. it would be even better if you were able to scarify the outfield after to take up a lot of the dead moss

Well, honestly i can't see any grass in certain areas, looks like moss, a greeny bown colour (nice to walk on). But unsure where its come from...would assume that our groundsman would have sorted this out previously as and when he goes up.

Ok i will pass the onto our groundsman 'the mad proffesor' and see if he has some stock hiding in the garage for me to use at the weekend. Thanks

I was told lawn sand is very effective.

Is usually when its not drained very well, been like when you get mold in you house due to standing condensation

TBF the moss is on areas which are normally the last dry.
-
Thats the one, our bottom wickets have the most moss on but we scarified the (No Swearing Please) out of it last year so hopefully its all gone

So after speaking to my groundsman via Skype, which was highly amusing. The link which I previously added.

This is approximately 300-400 in cost to hire someone to do it. But have been advised that its not too much of an issue on the outfield, it helps prevent diving injuries also.
