It's been a bit quiet on the keeping gear chat of late so thought I'd try and provoke some by asking what gear the forum keepers are going with for 2016.
Are you sticking with your 2015 favourites or lining up possible new options?
I've got a brand new pair of Blue Room gloves from a couple of seasons ago that I've never used and may get a run out but I'm struggling to discard the battered old B3 pair I used last year as they feel so good. A new pair of B3's may be hard to resist at some stage.
I've indulged in some new Puma stormtrooper pads as the pair I bought off @peplow (blast from the past?!) a few seasons back are on their last legs.
Aero P1 inners still my inner of choice, can't see that changing as I think the help a bit with my poppadom fingers!
Over to you guys :)

I'm looking to take up a larger keeping role compared to previous seasons, so I have decided to invest in completely new kit for this (as I didn't actually own any keeping pads before, and kit must match so gloves were on the agenda too)
Therefore I have gone for Gray Nics Test pads and The supernova gloves, as these match both my pads and mynew duffle,

Are those the black/grey and blue gloves?

Yep, I think they look the best out there right now

Ill be persisting with my Kook Kahuna 1250 gloves from last year and Kahuna pads (not quite sure which model tbh, but they match ) And picked up a pair of areo p1 inners so we'll see how they go this season
Yep, I think they look the best out there right now
Would have to agree, they will be my next choice of glove :)

Quite refreshing to see someone not going for all white!

Spent a happy hour in the (sort of) local shop trying on new gloves. I went thinking I wanted a pair of the supernova gloves but was a little undecided about the square palm.
Just ended up with a new pair of Aero inners but a set of B3 gloves might be an impulse purchase during the season.

Again, I would have to agree. I really don't like all white gloves

All Red Ink gear from last season for my occasional friendly keeping, very nice gloves and I'll likely never wear them out with the 5ish games I keep each year!
Haven't got a photo of my pair, but these ones.

Sticking with most of my gear from last year. GN Omega XRD gloves, I bought two pairs last year as I really liked them, using last years gloves for all practice this year. Started using the Newberry test pads at the end of last season, I like that they are under my trousers I feel I can move better in them. Got the GN Omega XRD helmet last year to bat and keep in as I got fed up with having two helmets.
Only new stuff is the Adidas SL22 Boost spikes. I was worried that they would be rubbish on wet ground but they have been great so far. Hoping they will stop my feet aching at the end of the day. Also our team has got Adidas kit for this season which I really like.
Not exactly gear but what do people favour to drink during fielding? I sweat a lot, nice I know, so I like to drink electrolyte drinks rather than isotonic energy drinks. Found the SIS electrolyte/caffein tablets are good. Cola flavour is the most bearable. A small glass of weak squash after 23 overs doesn't do the trick unfortunately.

That's a big investment in gloves there @CalverKeeper you must really like them. Anything specific that impresses you?
I am a similarly sweaty betty and might have to give your hydration tips a go. Is the sweat not an issue with wearing the under the trouser pads?
-
Blast from the past! Back playing this year but not keeping so not much to add, still got the custom gloves in the bag just in case though!

The GN gloves are really light and flexible but also give great impact protection. I had the legends previously our fast bowler made my hands sting, not had that with these gloves at all.
I think with hydration you have to play around, everyone is different, they will sweat more or less and have different levels of salts etc in their bodies. I don't have much caffein during the week so a boost on a Saturday helps me switch on and off, or at least I think it does so it works in one way or another.
The pads under the trousers don't bother me much. I wear a jock strap, full length base layer trousers and then the pads under my whites. I find pads will trap sweat in if they are on top or beneath your trousers but wearing the base layer means the sweat doesn't bother me. I don't have very sweaty legs anyway, more my head/face and upper body. I wear a sleeveless base layer on top too which helps get the sweat away. I know you might be thinking if I didn't wear the extra layers I wouldn't sweat as much but it really doesn't make a difference, I don't feel hot wearing the extra layer. I'm going with the theory that if your sweat evaporates quicker you will cool quicker.

Wondered if you'd go for a base layer under the pads, that makes sense

Which pads are these?

Oh yeah do you feel the bit over the knee pulls on your trousers around that area and the thigh as if its just a little too tight?
-
I don't find that no. I have the adidas trousers if that helps.

Generally a GM L.E. stalwart, ive taken the plunge this year and grabbed myself a pair of the Kookaburra 1000L -gauntlet (didnt like the 1250's found the wrist protection overly stiff and abit too bulky) with their much publicised Kookaburra catching cup (KCC) with the slightly forward set thumb and drawn in little finger that supposedly "uses unique padding and flex points within the palm to provide a perfect enclosure around the ball" and do you know what?...... it does!
Ive been keeping for the best part of 15 years now and have a fair idea of what im doing, the KCC surprised me how well it works - especially stood up to the quicks indoor. Not much change with regards to spinners but certainly noticeable with pace on the ball. Still havent had an outdoor sesh with them yet so I hope they are as nice stood back as they are up - I imagine they will be.
The one thing i would say is that they can bite you in the (No Swearing Please) if it doesnt go in well (I know that could be said about most gloves) but moreso with the kooks, That being said if you use them well they are a dream. If I was doing a golf review I would say the glove is suited to a lower handicap golfer if you know what i mean? The GM is a lovely glove and I will be keeping last years set in the bag and that is certainly a glove that can suit all!
Apologies, gone off on a bit of a review tangent.... but thats whats in my bag.
