Title: Unsuccessful mankad
Post by: Nothing2SeeHere on April 08, 2016, 10:54:39 AM
Following all the recent controversy over mankadding, I was trying to work out what the penalty for a failed appeal. My own copy of the rulebook is <cough> somewhat out of date and doesn't seem to offer any further advice other than dead ball. With the new rules for 'Finning' coming into play, would an unsuccessful (batsman still in crease) attempt to run out a batsman by the bowler now result in a no-ball?

I believe it to be a dead ball, no delivery has taken place so can't be a no ball. To be a "Finn" the ball must be bowled.
