The IPL starts up again tomorrow - I'm sure it will have the usual "scripted" drama
Pretty hard to beat RCB's batting line up with Gayle, Watson, AB and kohli
-
Can't wait to see everyone get served by THE BUTTLER
-
Can't wait to see everyone get served by THE BUTTLER
Will he get a game though? Punter mentioned he's the back up batsman to simmons.
-
If he doesn't play with what they've paid for him then they're seriously stupid
-
Also with the development of bumrah and pandya on the bowling fronts MI are less reliant on Pollard (if he's back from injury, I don't know) and Corey Anderson being all-rounders, so they could drop one of them and play buttler's instead
-
um, surely Buttler plays?!
-
um, surely Buttler plays?!
naaaaaaaaaaaaaa
-
I would hope that Buttler would get the gloves over a shoddy keeper like Parthiv Patel!
Buttler is better keeper and better with the bat too.
They are talking about him coming in as a specialist bat, but I would def take him as the keeper too - less of a sacrifice to make!
-
the problem is you cant play more than 4 overseas player. hard to fit him even if he is better ....
-

I'd probably say Patel is a better keeper to the spinners than Buttler. Can remember a fair few missed chances recently and costly ones.
Don't see them dropping Pollard or Anderson. Not sure if pollard is fully fit to begin with - might get a few games to start off with
-
Odd decision to bat first given what happened in the WC with the dew
Buttler gets a game. KP also in this, be interesting to see what number he bats with faf and smith both playing
-
Some good biffing at the end from Harbhajan there, but 121 doesn't look enough to defend here.
With Smith, Faf, Dohni & KP in the side this chase should be a formality
-
Be interesting to see how buttler gets on with the gloves with the Indian spinners on.
-
Kings XI Punjab - Glenn Maxwell, proved so well last year he is a short game specialist. I think he will be in the Top 5 bats this year in the IPL.
-
Sunrisers Hyderabad - Are my 'Under Dog' with the likes of Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, David Warner, only problem is they has Eoin in there team.....who has really done well...
-
Disappointed so far with this years IPL. After the run-fest of the WT20, opening scores of 120 and 100 for MI and DD... Boring? Or is it just because I'm a batsman? :D
Good to see Hoggy bullying batsmen though! He must be a million years old.
-
There were a fair few low scores in the wt20 as well
-
2 games in! Just 2 and ipl is being slagged off(mainly on Twitter not necessarily talking just here)
And In the way our friend @ProCricketer1982 says, big runs doesn't mean an exciting game.
But
Delhi were poor, if they carry on like that billings may get a game eventually.
-

Guess it's just me, appreciate were only 2 games in and hope it picks up. I prefer 230 chases and bowlers getting tonked 😄
Who's making Gautam's Bat? Seems odd that he's covering the edge stamps with duct tape, I thought GN had moved the stamps up to the stickers for DRS?

As a batsmen it means more to score runs when others don't rather than score when every man and his dog could. Sadly all people (majority) want to see is bowlers get tonked. Might as well sack bowling off and just play 11 batsmen.
Nothing more boring than 4/6 after 4/6., even that gets boring.
Having said that, the quality isn't good
-
In both the games stronger batting line up was chasing the target. If Pune or Kolkata had batted first we could have seen a 160+ target easily. Pune batting line up looks pretty strong .... Faf, rahane, kevin, smith, marsh, dhoni ... :o
-
On top of the world cup it's overkill, it's like eating takeaway every night, gets ho hum after a while.
-
On top of the world cup it's overkill, it's like eating takeaway every night, gets ho hum after a while.
How dare you! How very well dare you. It is absolutely fantastic, and the variety........... I can have McDonald's, kfc, Pizza Hut and Burger King of the local retail park. And then if that get boring there's Atleast 50 restaurants on my take away ordering app(just eat)...
Oh wait I've gone off topic....... Oops.
-
Bring back the Big Bash.
Nothing better than cricket with your Cornflakes in the morning!
-
It's sort of an over dose, but i am not addicted to seeing some form of cricket every week ... i don't mind IPL followed by World T20.
-
Be interesting to see how johnson goes today. Not played any cricket since retiring. Suspect he's just there to pick up his pay cheque.
Finch and McCullum is some opening partnership to bowl to mind you!
-
Got to love AB and kohli smashing it! Making it look far too easy
Surprised SRH would play Morgan over Williamson!
-
I see de villiers is back in the runs now it doesn't matter again.
How many he make in the World Cup?
-
It appears Watto is looking for a sponsor too
-
It appears Watto is looking for a sponsor too
Surprising! Must've wanted more than GM were offering I guess, especially now he's retired from internationals.
-
It appears Watto is looking for a sponsor too
GM won't have anyone left before long
-
That's not a bad first nut from Rasool either
-
De villiers still using Kook gear? Didn't he sign with MRF towards the back end of last year or has that fallen through?
-

Think he still had 6 months on his kook contract at the time of signing
-
Old Virat seems dialed in good and proper at present. Relentless.
-
Why on earth is McLenagan batting ahead of Buttler???
-
THE PIE MAN.
-
This is why! Get the lefty in against the leggies
-
I stand corrected
Then again as I say that, he gets out!
-
I stand corrected
Then again as I say that, he gets out!
He's done his job!
I thought the IPL commentators couldn't get worse but these female "experts" are a joke!
-
Oh God that 6 from Buttler!
-
He has smashed that. I love a bit of Jos...
-
Hahahahahaha
And they said he was bought as back up after the auction!
Go on jos!
-
SERVED BY THE BUTTLER
-
Must be a throw up for the most miserable cricketer on the field: gambhir, Samuels or Jimmy Anderson
-
Samuels isn't miserable, he's just a (No Swearing Please)
-
Must be a throw up for the most miserable cricketer on the field: gambhir, Samuels or Jimmy Anderson
I'm pretty grumpy too.
-
Pretty good way to make up for that duck, done what he needed to carry them over the line...
-
That's some shot from rohit! What a knock!
-
He's batted beautifully
-
If anyone else is watching the IPL, I am the only one that thinks Du Plessis has gaffa tape around the bottom of his bat?
-
Interesting to see narine's new action. Can't believe they dropped hogg though!
-
Said hogg was out with food poisoning
-
Said hogg was out with food poisoning
Thanks for clearing that! missed the start.
Looks like another disappointing game
-
Odd that Andy flower didn't like the IPL when he was coach yet he's cashing in as a sky expert ;)
-
A serious knock by De Kock to chase such a massive score! 100 up!
-
Massive innings from de kock made it look easy.
Both kohli and de villiers batted with ease earlier but both sent easy catches when it come to teaing off time and is why Bangalore didn't get the 200 plus they should have.
He's just been strangled with a leg side bouncer...... Maybe not over yet.
-
Not a bad debut from the Yorkshireman "travis head" there. Hit some massive sixes in that 36.
-
Nothing to do with today's match but Punjab desperately need to bench Maxwell and Miller. Both hopelessly out of form and in Maxwell's case batting like a blind man. Not justifying that $1m price tag...
-
a lot of questionable things happening in this tournament. Definitely been a bowlers tourny so far too
-
Looks like another one sided game. Seems like none of the sides know how to set a score so far
-
No one else going to say it's the most over rated tournament going ?? Local Indian players being the standard down and a lot of overseas there for the pay check it seems.. Tbf, there aren't any high quality 2020 comps around
-
I am from India and yet I hate IPL. Its just over kill and there are very few talented young Indian players.
More often than not its the same players putting up the show.
-
This continual dew factor is taking the skill away from the tournament. Every side wins the toss and bowls first. They need to bring the start times forward so skill determines the result not the weather.
-
Says a lot when even dhawan gets a score......
-

Wasn't he the saviour of Indian cricket 12 months ago?
-
Wasn't he the saviour of Indian cricket 12 months ago?
He got dropped during World Cup, as scored sod all, and only had single figures this tournament.
-
Probably the difference between the IPL and other leagues. Only in the IPL would you find 2 of the best limited over players putting on a masterclass. Never get tired watching kohli and AB
-
Kohli's incredible form in T20 cricket goes on and on. What they feeding him in bangalore? ??
-
Kp's IPL looks over...blame the TON bat ;)
-
Virat Kohli produced yet another batting masterclass today, registering his first T20 century - incredible in its own right as he had a staggering 42 fifties without getting to three figures. Unfortunately for Kohli thought RCB where outgunned by Baz McCullum and the other Gujarat boys. The South African Chinaman looks a bit decent.
Kohli's T20/T20i stats for 2016 are ludicrous, 992 runs @ 110! #GeezerCanPlay

He's a class act there's no denying that.
Just waiting for the "it's all irrelevant hit and giggle, only tests matter" brigade to try and put his achievement down though ;)
-
This continual dew factor is taking the skill away from the tournament. Every side wins the toss and bowls first. They need to bring the start times forward so skill determines the result not the weather.
IPL is treated as entertainment rather than sport by Indian govt. They charge entertainment tax on BCCI for organizing this event. BCCI being BCCI, would want to make sure their revenue is maximized. So the start times are always delayed to start at 7 - 8 PM local time. It's the only way they are going to bring in huge crowds.
-
Royal challengers Bangalore have replaced the injured(not sure he was ever un injured) mitchell starc with.......
Chris Jordan!!
-
Also although buttler only scored 24 at a 200 plus SR, he went scoop mad today, most coming off.
-
A non-chase from Kings 11
-
Year after year teams buy Henriques in the IPL yet he's never actually done anything. Hope the Aussie coaches get a cut of his salary. I'm sure he's earnt 4m+ so far in the IPL. One of the worst players to play in the IPL and they've been a few

Most of the local Indians are pretty sub standard tbh so he's not that bad

Can only play 4 overseas though.
So you kinda need the local Indians, henriques not so much.

True, I was answering more to the 'he's the worst player ever' type comment .. Now, he is pretty avg but certainly not the worst
-
probably means Worst Overseas player
-

Think my quote was "One of the worst players to play in the IPL and they've been a few"...but hey ;)
-
This is some hitting from Morris! Some massive hits! You can see why he was paid so much in the auction.
52 of 17 balls!
-
Mumbai Indians have signed West Indian Jerome Taylor to replace the sicknote Lasith Malinga.
-
Pune Supergiants have signed Australian run machine Usman Khawaja to replace the injured South African duo Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis.
-
England youngster Sam Billings takes his opportunity with both hands. Smashes a dynamic 50 on IPL debut. Adds a certai. Amount of X factor to the Delhi middle order.
-
Amla's finally made himself available for the IPL. To play for the kings 11
-
Amla's finally made himself available for the IPL. To play for the kings 11
Always has made himself available I believe, just never picked in the auction.
-
Unsure if he'll be a good replacement for Marsh, averages 8.3 runs less per innings in non-international T20s. Love Amla as a batsman but I don't know if his playing style fits the IPL in the same way that Marsh's does.
-
Always has made himself available I believe, just never picked in the auction.
Good for him. A break outside the national squad setup might help him out ....
-
Always has made himself available I believe, just never picked in the auction.
That's incorrect, only this year did he make himself available in the auction. Previously never put his name forward due to religious reasons. IPL parties, alcohol etc.
-
@csnew - He could always negotiate with the IPL team owners about participation in the after match parties. I believe there are few players who exclude themselves from that list ...
-
@csnew - He could always negotiate with the IPL team owners about participation in the after match parties. I believe there are few players who exclude themselves from that list ...
He's probably done something like that this year or realised he's retiring soon and could use a bonus
Interesting to see how many international players that have been injured this IPL. Steve smith also out. Probably too much cricket and bodies not having enough rest
-
@csnew - I think T20 WC followed by IPL has taken a toll on many players. Injury list is growing pretty fast ...
-
Suspect given the team changes made by delhi, the big money is on dhoni's side ;)

Anybody know where I can watch game 2 today love?
Sky seem to think a mo farah documentary on repeat is more important than live cricket on the telly!
I'm really starting to get fed up off spending money and getting crack across all channels.

Anyone know what brand Carlos Brathwaite is using?
Looks like he was at the rns factory picking a few bats

Don't understand how Punjab go about team selection but how does David Miller still merit selection? He's been damn near awful all season. I accept that Glenn Maxwell has been pretty indifferent as well, but he has at least scored some runs but he's not been dropped. Is Miller at it with the team owner?
-

A lot of money wasted if you didn't play him and he's probably still a better bet than the locals. It's 2020, a few low scores happens from time to time,,especially in biff and hit cricket when he is a biffer
-
Decent effort that from Miller, stumped first ball giving it the charge. At least Maxi would have been caught on the fence.
-
Isn't that his only ever duck in all his Ipl games?? Not a bad record for slap and tickle batting
-
David Miller 10 matches 131 runs @ 16.37
Glenn Maxwell 9 matches 183 runs @ 22.87
On the face of it neither really deserve to be in the starting XI, but Maxwell has at least smashed a couple of 50s. Plus you can factor in Maxwell can bowl a few off breaks...
-
Adam Zampa snared the second best figures ever in the IPL today, ending up with 6-19. His first fiver in any form of professional cricket. Zampa is developing into a good limited overs spinner
-
Typical masterclass from AB and Kohli.
-
Carnage from AB! Some of the shots !!
-
AB takes 30 off an over and kohli decides to match it the next over
-
Watson walking out with an SG
-
AB is a beast. Simple as. Kohli is a machine. Only man to score 3 IPL hundreds in a season.
-
Gutted to Amla, out in 96. Cracking innings though.
Still don't know why he was ignored in the auction and only picked up due to injuries.
-
Ugh! Cutting using a Shrey Neck Guard on a Masuri lid! Horrible!!
-
Does anyone know where you can by a RCB jersey in the UK?
-
Kholi is different gravy
-
Kholi is different gravy
Be amazing if he makes a 1000 runs in one IPL.
He may need to get Bangalore to qualify to do that though.
-
Just amazing to watch him
He has to end up among the greats of the game if he keeps this going as unreal talent
If he gets runs in England (last place I think he hasn't dominated) then can't see how anyone can stop him
-
They were joking in the studio that we might get 180 if we bat well
Hahahaha
-
This boy is an animal. Should RCB make the final he could break Gayle's record for most T20 runs in a calendar year(1665 is the record). Kohli's on 1490.
-
Unhuman stuff , he was not exhausted at all after the knock, hitting sixes on will, the guy is from some other planet !!!
-
can't imagine the work out he did, all those time spend in gym, all worth by seeing his great 100 knock eventho with stiches on injured his hand.amazing batsman
-

and now Amla is showing his class, you have to wonder what this team were thinking. Amla is a 1000 times better than some of these overhyped mugs. And Wattos batting average is still worse than these two....but that's for another post.

Drug test needed for kholi
Also check his bat is legal width and made of only wood
-
If kohli doesn't get you AB will! They were 35-5!
-
Abv magnificent innings means Chris Jordan gets to go to an ipl final!
He really was the turn around for them..........
-
Note for South Africa's idiotic selection panel, keep AB happy and he'll be around a lot longer. And probably more important the whole world will miss this fella when he retires. For my money the best I've ever seen!
-
Chris Jordan has been pretty decent aside from the horrors of his first three matches.
First three matches:
Overs: 11
Conceded: 132
Economy:12
Wickets:1
Last five matches:
Overs:13
Conceded: 81
Economy: 6.23
Wickets: 7
Not quite Mitchell Starc but a pretty darn decent replacement

Cracking final to the 2016 IPL.
Sunrisers of Hyderabad beating Royal Challengers of Bangalore in the RCB's backyard!
Typically for Hyderabad it was captain fantastic Davie Warner setting the tone with the willow, a swashbuckling 69(his 9th 50 of your season). Yuvraj showed some of that old magic with 39, but after both Warner and Yuvraj fell their innings threatened to fall away. Fear not Queenslander Ben Cutting unleashed fury with 39 off 15 balls(Cutting launched a 117m straight out of the stadium)to rocket Hyderabad to 208. What to me seemed a par score considering the RCB line up and the small ground in Bangalore.
The universe boss set out making a mockery of the target by blazing away to 76 of 38 balls before the impressive Cutting got him with a slower ball. Kohli registered another 50, but fell short of the magical 1000 IPL runs in a season. Kohli and AB fell close together. From there on Hyderabad's magnificent bowling attack took over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the Fizz where excellent at the death.
Warner's boys win their first IPL by 8 runs.
A lot of player think of Davie Warner as a thug, a bit dim but he showed in this tournament he's a very commanding skipper and should Steven Smith ever ditch the Australian captaincy, I see no one better than Davie to take the job.
MoM: Ben Cutting 39* off 15 balls & 2/35
Emerging player: Mustafizur Rahman
Purple cap: Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Orange cap: Virat Kohli
IPL MVP: Virat Kohli

Thank god that rubbish is over.

Test cricket and blast were available during the ipl on different channels.
Have you lost your remote?
Well done to Warner and the rest of the Sunrisers. Cracking tournament from him with bat, slightly overlooked due to kohlis ridicolous tournament with the bat!
Takes me two years to score a 1000 runs, he nearly did it in a single tournament!
-

DW, Gayle, VK & Mustafiz made is a worth while final to watch. I don't agree on the rubbish part, but its an individual perception so it can vary from one person to another.

Overkill!!
Hopefully it's played in the UK and we can see the likes of AbD and kohli batting together
