These are the ones I have come across...always enjoyed watching them. Thanks @procricket for the Kohli one posted in the other thread.

not sure if its just the angle but his bat lift looks a lot higher.
-
Very good thread. I really liked all the practice videos ...
-
Just wondering what thigh pad set was Sanga wearing in that youtube clip ?
-
Just wondering what thigh pad set was Sanga wearing in that youtube clip ?
he's wearing a stretton fox thigh pad set
-
Sanga is so compact in his movements, it is just a delight to watch him bat. Truly masterful!
-
Watching all these videos just made me think...so much hard work and hours of practice goes into what we see at the international level...and we village cricketers just go out every Saturday without any proper practice and try to emulate these players (and even manage to pull it off sometimes!) :)
-
billing being very unconventional

Are we watching the same video?
Despite the movement and getting into interesting position, Billings' head is level and watching the ball, and is still and over the ball at the point of impact.
-
Is he another hockey player?
Lot of wrist action
Heads as still as owt and looks to hit it hard

We obviously are not...his head is not still...he is over the ball in few shots not every shot...I don't know about level either with all that bouncing around.

Rackets iirc.
Head looks still to me, unconventional shots but classic still-move to shot-still head. Soooo casual on the scoops, shows how easy that shot really is if you've got the balls to play it that confidently off professional pace.

That's exactly what I thought. It just goes to show it doesn't matter what position you get into, you just need to have a still head and watch the ball.
Cricket is actually a very simple game, we just like to overcomplicate things... :-[

I like the way even in the nets he was still preempting the quick single... makes sense really. If when you practice you don't build that reflex into your rhythm why would you then all of a sudden do it when out in the middle.

That golf swing!
It was hypnotising me!ha
Every ball hit hard, don't let the bowlers get comfortable

The size of that bat he used for the first 30 seconds :(

That was awesome.

Also from his net session:

Bit of storm damage
-
yes I know it's against schoolboys but watching Stokes hit the ball that clean is a fantastic sight for those of us that only middle a couple of shots a season
:)
as for the bat perhaps it was made in........oh no, not going there

Amazing to see the pros practice, the level of concentration is superb

I can suggest some "drills" to improve wrist speed.... ;)
-
Hameed is potentially a huge find for us. Looking at that brief clip I would say he uses a very light bat, anyone else think the same?
-
I'm sure I've read he uses 2lb 7 bats somewhere before I may be wrong though. From the video it does look like it must be a light bat that or he has ridiculously strong wrists

its not even funny how good hameed is.. hes on another level
-
A friend of mine told me recently on his trip to get his bowling machine fixed, Lancashire were there too. Apparently their machine had delivered over 150,000 balls. They reckoned Hameed had faced a good 80,000 of them!!
-
Good job Lancs are getting theirs fixed ready for Shiv Chanderpaul! When he was at Derbyshire he would take hundreds of balls every morning before a days play, let alone on a practice day.

A friend of mine has been bowling in the nets at The Oval during the Champions Trophy. He doesn't even play club 1sts, but claims to have got Kohli, Dhoni and Maxwell out!

Similar here, two boys have been bowling at a few teams and claim to have tied up a few big names. Must be a hell of an experience though and good on them for putting themselves out there
the big left armer???

I took my friend a repaired bat as a way of blagging in to watch, but got him in trouble for calling out his name. Stupid of me really.
Loads of photographers and press there.

Were they all caught on the imaginary boundary?
Imaginary stumping (Kohli); caught and bowled (Dhoni); clean bowled (Maxwell).
Like a lot a leg-spinners, my friend can bowl an unplayable delivery. He can also bowl some absolute filth.
Captains tend not to see the bigger picture in club cricket.

Wow he makes batting look so easy not much footwork, just hands

One or two cannons there tho great hands but you are right Dan lol

If it is possible, he looks even more loose than before!
That's the beauty of him I guess, weird/loose whatever you call setup, stance, no footwork etc, still ball rockets off the middle of the bat no matter where it is bowled..

Yes, he was invited to a village at a academy in Pakistan where he was working with players.
Wasn't aware of him until his recent work.

What are the practicing for? Charity tournament?
Yes. For weeks they have been organizing a star studded bushfire fundraiser, as a curtain raiser for the BBL final tomorrow night. Last I heard it had been cancelled due to the predicted wet weather, as they didn't want another game on a wet SCG outfield before the main game, and are now planning the match on 9th Feb. Looking likely that the BBL GF will be a washout or barely a match.
Squad for the two teams includes :
Ricky Ponting ©, Adam Gilchrist ©, Alex Blackwell, Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Brian Lara, Courtney Walsh, Dan Christian, Matthew Hayden, Luke Hodge, Justin Langer, Phoebe Litchfield, Andrew Symonds, Nick Riewoldt, Elyse Villani, Shane Watson, Yuvraj Singh and Wasim Akram. Tendulkar is coaching one of the teams, but not playing, Tim Paine coaching the other team. Warne and a few others were supposed to play, but now cannot because of the date change.

He really doesn't look like an athlete does he? Really gawky
-
He really doesn't look like an athlete does he? Really gawky
Bit harsh. If his fitness regimen is anything like his batting he will be one of the fittest in their side.
I dislike the guy a lot but he would be supremely fit and strong.
-
He really doesn't look like an athlete does he? Really gawky
You can look however you want when you have the second best stats in history
-
You can look however you want when you have the second best stats in history
Don't bring Marnus Labuschagne into this!
-
You can look however you want when you have the second best stats in history
Yes that's my point really. He's an amazing player and no doubt fitand strong, but I wouldn't guess it from looking at him. I always thought that, even when he's out in the middle. And let's not get onto his batting style (which also works brilliantly)
-
Smith definitely doesn't look like the stereotypical picture of an athlete. Among the top cricketers in the world he's definitely one of the less typically athletic looking ones, compare him to the likes of Stokes, but stats show it doesn't affect him. Really gives weight to the "cricket is a game for everyone" argument.
-

Really gives weight to the "cricket is a game for everyone" argument.
He might not have big muscles etc but I remember watching him field in an ODI at old trafford when he first broke into the australia side, and he was absolutely electric - speed agility and obviously ridiculous hand eye coordination are also athletic skills which are of high value in many sports (cricket being one).
-
That's true, but he doesn't look naturally graceful off the field. Same with quite a few top athletes I think, totally different once they get onto the field and they're moving in a way that's specific to their sport.
-
I would not judge Smith's fitness level by his body fat %age or lack of muscle contours. You can be fit and strong and not have a chiseled six-pack. This is just silly.
-
He really doesn't look like an athlete does he? Really gawky
It is one of the great things about the game that even in the modern era of is a game where all body types can compete at the highest level.
-
what exactly determines an athlete? Some of the greatest fielders to play cricket have been skin and bones eg Rhodes - RSA and Harper - Win.
Smith seems to have a fat face nothing about his body suggests he’s a fatty. And he’s one of the best fielders I’ve ever seen.
-
The original comment wasn't that he was fat or lacked muscle but that he's "gawky". When he's not on the cricket pitch he does look a bit uncoordinated, but obviously once he's on the field you see why that's not an indicator of sporting performance. Could say the same of a lot of top sprinters for example, when they're just walking around they don't move like elite tier athletes.
-
He really doesn't look like an athlete does he? Really gawky
having bodyfat regardless of hardwork any athlete at that level do is purely genetic.
-
Smith's 2nd post, this time talks about the '2nd authentic swing'. This one about being 'powerful and clearing the rope'.
https://www.instagram.com/tv/CAHevi7J-Dj/?igshid=m9aq0a08aav4 (https://www.instagram.com/tv/CAHevi7J-Dj/?igshid=m9aq0a08aav4)

I was hanging around with Sutherland last year at the National t20 finals because a mate of mine plays for them. Instead of getting the tram back to the team hotel, Smithy ran the 5km back. Even just sitting around watching the side (he had his elbow injury at the time) you could see he was a ball of energy and incredibly fit. Sometimes the people who aren't the most naturally athletic can make themselves by sheer hard work.
-
Think a few posters could help themselves out in this thread by looking up the word gawky... Also the idea that Smith isn't a natural athlete is plain daft, isn't it? To get picked as a specialist fielder for Australia you've got to be a pretty bloody good athlete, let's face it.
Thought the first video was good if not exactly ground breaking, wasn't a fan of this one from an amateur point of view - closing yourself off isn't going to help many people.
-
He's a guy who has ridiculously good reactions and is rapid. He clearly has plenty of fast twitch muscle fibres and natural athletic ability.
-
He's a guy who has ridiculously good reactions
He won't have significantly better reactions than average (noone does), just a much better response!
