So when i went to our 'local cricket shop', It's a sports shop mainly but the guy that owns it has been in the cricket business for years and knows his stuff (it's still expensive mind) and its also where we have to go to collect our league balls. I saw some bat wax and got talking to him about if he had an experience with it and whatever, which he hadn't, but having picked up a few bits for my club he told me to hang on to the wax and give it ago.
However apart from a soft cloth which it suggests (i'm guessing any sort of flannel would do) what grade's sandpaper should i use before applying, and where's the cheapest place to get it?

I'd recommend a light sand with p400 then p600, apply bat wax let it soak in for a while, then using the same p600 sand again and polish, I find this gives the best finish as any excess wax is sanded off and then allows you to get a better finish

where do you get your sandpaper from? I would like a fair bit of it as a few guys from my club want me to do theirs too!

My school bulk buys really decent stuff on rolls for the DT department and I buy sheets of them as and when I need it for really quite cheap, I'll try and find out the brand and where they get it from on Monday for you

You can get it here. However, you really don't need to get to p400 paper to achieve an excellent finish. Too many people move up the grades too quickly and too often you see the sander marks in the photos they post on here. If you cannot achieve the finish you desire with p240 then, in my professional opinion, you are Moving through the grades too quickly.

When I'm doing a full refurb I have the finish I want at p240 by this point the bat starts to become almost shiny without any wax, I'll then do 320 and 400 regardless as I feel it gets it just that bit smoother and shinier, good quality sandpaper is a must for this. Using the p600 I only do this for light touch ups to put on the wax without fully sanding
