Just wondering how often people break their bats beyond repair? Are you seeing terminal breaks in the newer models more than say the older bats you owned ?
-
Not so much terminal damage, but I'm managing to create a new crack every net session at the moment haha
-
I hadn't properly broken one until 2014, then i broke three in quick succession (two of which were repairable but not the same afterwards. Since then I've bearly made a scratch on my match bat, which has meant I've built a bit of a collections of 'spares'
-
I don't think ive ever broken a bat properly, mainly due to lack of batting skill thus resulting in less time at the crease!!
-
Only had one suffer irreversible damage and that was a G&M Purist that ended in three pieces, two sections of the Blade and a dislocated handle. Fingers crossed no more suffer anything like that, it was a tough pill to swallow.
-
I've never broken a bat before
Being 16 I have only owned 2 short handled bats (one bought this winter) and the first bat is still flying!
-
I've always broke bats.
When you get and I need the full life out of them, taking them to beyond repair happens a lot.
Purist 2, county insignia and reflex, couple of slazenger and a Duncan fearnleyz
Today? Well I have that many bats, I never let them get to far, I will repair a few times then sell in cheap to let someone else have some use out of them.
As damaged as they got is the b3 I sold To @Chad and he has repaired.

I've made a habit of it over the years, started with school bats at 14 in the nets and it's carried on since. Averaged about one every season and a half and not all of them have been mine!
-
Never broken a bat beyond repair. However, the handle on on h4l snapped at the end of last season and I got it re-handled.
-
Had a SS lying around for 8 years, never really looked after it as it was a gift, usually was kept near my radiator in my room. Lasted me a while until it severely cracked in the middle, only for in the same net session the new CA bat I got had a chunk come off after only 15 balls.
So two bats ruined within 10 minutes.
My MB Malik bat has severe cracking due to someone using a "bat breaker" ball in the nets. A really good bat ruined.
Be good to know if anyone has suggestions for a new bat, I'm currently looking for one now. Preferably for £100-125

Only once, with a cheap new ball in a friendly and a square cut hitting the toe, putting a crack in a fairly new bat.
I seem to get more bats damaged by other people than myself.
-
Broken a few whilst playing friendlies with cheap balls.
I have a couple of oldish bats that get brought out if I'm in any doubt as to ball quality
-
I don't think I have personally broken a bat myself.
Someone borrowed my CA bat the other day and it came back with a nice chip off the toe side. What can you do? :: cold sigh ::
-
Beyond repair once, dug out a Yorker from a genuine quick that split right up through ute and back of bat but that's it really beyond repair in 17 seasons that I can remember
-
I am a nudger so I don't break many, unfortunately when I loan my nice light bats to other people is when the damage gets done.
-
I've broken one bat only
Sunday game two seasons ago dug out two Yorkers from a young lad wanting to be Mitchell Johnson
And my poor kookaburra took the brunt,
Took it back and got a new one as a refurb but sold it on.
