Title: New Helmet
Post by: Slyboogy on April 26, 2016, 08:14:53 PM
Hi guys,

Apologies if another topic of this is kicking about but I can't find any.

Was wondering where I could get a good cheap helmet for and what type of price they go for?

I had a Masuri one but that was a gift but the strap on it has broke so I am looking for a replacement.

Any ideas?

Sportsdirect
A lad at our club brought one on Sunday.
Kookaburra for £31.99 looks good and he seems very happy with it

Yeah I had a look at Ayrtek just there, they look good a bit pricey obviously that's due to the quality.

Oh yeah, can't believe I didn't even check sportsdirect!

The GM zona lid is also worth considering, it is available around £40 in quite a few places, it is a chunk lighter than the masuri, I think.

Tried a few on recently more out of curiosity about new lids than anything else, Shrey Armour is probably where I'd go on a budget. Gf has one and it's better than I expected, about £50 if I remember right. Quite a similar feel to old style Masuris.

I don't like wearing a helmet, I feel it impairs my vision, I haven't batted with one since the strap broke until yesterday when I used one. I couldn't read the ball at all and it seemed as if it was coming at me quicker.

It's also a nuisance when I run, even with the strap tightly on, it feels as if it just wobbles.

Anyone else feel the same?

@Slyboogy well let me know and I'll get one sorted for u, we use a 4 point chin strap that helps to reduce wobble.

Yes I have a problem with impaired vision particulary when  looking down at the ball that  lands by my feet the grills with the  double top bar are  the worse found that they caused me headaches through eye strain.
Wouldn't recommend it to anyone  but To get  clear vision I've reset my grill slightly so that the top bar on the grill is level with the end of my nose vast vision improvement had a a short few balls hitt the grill and gone upwards but never had a ball go through.

New helmet has arrived, looking good, feels good when running, not used in the nets, just tested it by jogging in the house.

However I am having trouble adjusting the grille, I have been unscrewing it but it doesn't seem to budge?

Can you advise @Ayrtek?

The nut caps will unscrew on it so you can adjust it, not all of the setting are viable as the grille was designed to fit other helmets as well using the different holes.

Yeah I have been doing that, but the grille doesn't seem to adjust/

I'm not sure what you mean?

You can adjust the settings on it by swapping the position the rear holes are position by the bolt that's present? This will adjust the gap and distance the grille is from your face.

on the clearance helmets how do you adjust the size?
Title: Re: New Helmet
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on May 02, 2016, 10:40:44 AM
@Jamesfield if you mean the interior size then the helmet comes with different thicknesses of foam padding that alter the size/fit.
