Title: Friendly side in the Hampshire area
Post by: WalkingWicket37 on April 27, 2016, 05:20:47 PM
Hi guys

As some of you will have seen I won't be available until early June due to a rather poncy sounding injury. Broken bones and ligament damage are a right pain in the thumb!

Anyways, in looking for a new club to join when I'm fit again. I'll probably stay at my current club for league games as I've already paid my membership fees, so looking for a Sunday side (and possibly midweek if I can escape work in time to get there).

I'm not too fussed about the standard, but decent teas are essential in my decision! Anyone looking for a fatty to bat in the middle order and send down some filthy of breaks with a Paul Adams esque action?

People are wary of your reputation as a sexual predator.

Didn't see this, I play for Hythe but I think that's a bit out of the way though isn't it?

I'm likely to be available in 2 weeks time.
No clubs looking for players? I promise I won't make sexual advances on anyone for at least the first innings

Not sure if you've seen this site? http://www.thesundaycricketer.co.uk/the-cricket-club-database (http://www.thesundaycricketer.co.uk/the-cricket-club-database)

You can download an Excel list of registered clubs with some details and contacts. There's quite a few in Hants. I'm in Salisbury. Our SUnday players used to run a village side out of Fovant in the Dorset/Wilts Sunday league but it contracted from 8 to 2 divisions over the last few years and they had to revert to a few friendlies only. Looks like there's a few options for you here.

or if you're after a bit of jazz hat cricket with a focus on the catering side you could always join the Hampshire Hogs. Just make sure you work on your cheese and port capacity. http://www.hampshirehogs.org.uk/ (http://www.hampshirehogs.org.uk/)

Best thing about Lymington is that Waitrose is within walking distance. Always good for a few Saturday evening discounts!

IBM South Hants Cricket Club. I used to play for them 10-15 years ago. Play at a pretty ground on a Sunday, generally good teas and a good bunch:

Drop them a line - the Sundays were always fun!
