Post by: Skyline on January 03, 2010, 09:16:20 PM
Hi guys im new to the forum (Hence my post count) and im looking for a new helmet.
Im purchasing a Ayrtek Ti Grill from Ayrtek tommorow and i was wondering whether to a Masuri Helmet or Ayrtek Helmet.
I only play county cricket so just wanted some advice on what would perform better.

Thanks

like to say that if you get an Ayrtek now you can get a Ti grille for an extra tenner

Personally on Looks alone, the Masuri hands down- they look very classy. On weight/tech and for the purpose of the helmet (to protect you safely) the Ayrtek, Good Luck.

I think the ayrtek look slick too. Masuri is very traditional, ayrtek a bit more modern! very tough choice looks wise i think...

ayrteks fit any head as they pump up to fit...masuri would be fine though and are also comfy. ayrtek for exact fits though

Yes i agree. My albion just sits on my head and i dont like that. i prefer a lid that covers my ears and is comfortable.

Ayrtek I reckon - very comfortable and light, although I have the light grill! This is mine and first impressions are excellent!

Masuri all the way, had it since December 06 now, its the longest standing piece of equipment in my bag, where other pieces of kit have been changed i have never felt the need to replace it, it truly is an awesome piece of kit

I Have to have one of these . I Dont like them in blue but i love them in black and my club trim is blue so i would look stupid going out to the middle in a diff colour helmet. dno maybe not .

The acis versions can be pumped to fit and shape of head sp that it is a personalised fit to each individual. If you drop me a pm skyline I may be able to do you a pair of gloves as well as the helmet if that's of any interest to you? (dependant on your budget).

Can do them in any colour scheme also if you dare to be different!!! Lol

Indeed mr cricket we realise that we can't please everyone with one design and some people may view it as being too modern in design. This was one of the reasons we have looked to produce a more traditional helmet as well as the modern style one to widen our market (hopefully!!)

the scoop is present to remove the angle of the peak so that if struck the ball will deflect rather than being stopped and causing greater impact force when hitting a 70-90 degree angle.

haha, i didnt mean to offend!

and i appreciate all of the tecnology that has been effected on your helmets, i think that with this tec and a design that appeals more to the 'mainstream' you could go on and rival masuri and albion. Folk on here seem to love your work anyway!

Mr cricket no offense taken, it's feedback from people who aren't overly enthusiastic about the helmets that help us to evolve and improve.

If everyone liked them and bought them life would be far to simple lol not that o would mind as I could retire early!!

Hey guys, I'm thinking of a new ayrtek- not sure if I should go for blue or black? And black isn't even selectable on the website!

Alternative is (a much cheaper) Masuri steel in navy (or black).

What do you think?

black is viable and can be done easily enough as a forum member if you specify upon ordering at no extra cost....in fact Talisman only collected a black one last night ;) may have a pic sumwhere of a black lid if required?

Just received my Ayrtek today - chuffed as hell. I've tried one on before and i thought that the fit was excellent! It was Peplow's, but it's going for a re-spray and will be put up on the forum once it's been finished!
First thing i have to say is that the fit really is excellent, i have a masuri and i suppose have just got used to it wobbling a little - the Ayrtek is just head and shoulders above the Masuri in terms of fit, lightness and aesthetics. I will do a full review of the helmet once it has been re-customised.......but my first impressions are superb, the new lining seems to do the job well and the titanium grille is feather light - fans, if you have the money then this is where it should go next :D

My Arytek didnt fit me properly. Had alot of wobble in it. Also felt the masuri has a more comfy fit. If you can, try one before buying, especially if you go for a custom spray.

Visibility on the Arytek is better than the masuri i would say, you feel less enclosed ( the coming from a claustrophobic!)

Arytek also felt lighter

They cater for a fair range...63cm is the largest i think officially but had a few people with larger than average craniums try them on and fit without any issues...best bet is to measure the circumfrence of ur noggin and take it from there :)

in all fairness mine didnt fit my head as well as my masuri does, and i think i was using it right, although i think its what people are used to, i was used to the masuri sitting lower so didnt like the higher riding ayrtek, if i hadnt of usd the masuri i'd have thought the ayrtek was an absolute dream! which is why its Still a cracking helmet and would recommend it to anyone who asked!!

My ayrtek helmet did the rounds on saturday's match, all the younger members loved it and were asking loads of questions about it - the helmet managed to fit most heads with ease and the ACIS system was very popular. I still the Masuri is a very good product but the Ayrtek is my overall winner.

Was in good humour as I get on with this team as I wind them up alot whenever we play as are all friends so they just picked something I called one of there lads racist against gingers as he hit one Ginger bowler for 20 in an over then the Ginger skipper for 26 in three so all fun

I like the idea of the ACIS but just not the shape or style of the ayrtek helmet, can you fit an acis system into a masuri tom?
